@Dleggio do you have any stats on the number of accepted students that were deferred from Early Decision? I am still waiting to find out and my status on status checker still shows Deferred to RD.

@steelfan43: what school did you apply to? Harpur for me, EA deferred, still no news

@whichwillitbe: I also applied to Harpur. Early Action also not Early Decision which I stated incorectly in an earlier post.

After waiting for 4 months, I was upset to find out that I got denied from SOM this morning. I feel totally hopeless and frustrated now because I don’t wanna go for the business management program at Stony Brook:(

For those who have been waiting, you might try checking the portal today. I found out from the portal that I’ve been waitlisted.

My son just found out yesterday via snail mail that he was accepted to Binghamton’s School of Management. He applied regular decision, so dont give up hope! It seems they received a ton of applications…his letter said they received over 30,000 applications for 2400 Freshman spots! Good luck to all of you!

Just checked son’s status - he is now eligible to pay admission deposit so I guess he’s been accepted (to Harpur) but still no word indication on status checker page or e-mail or snail mail.

Congrats to you and your son, @trippin. So it appears that if you’re waitlisted, you receive notification by portal. I assume they’re going to send me something additional about accepting a spot on the wait list, but I don’t know how that works. If you’re in, you can find out via the back door Pay Your Deposit method, and assume that official notification is on its way in snail mail. And if you’re declined, I’m pretty sure they send you an email.

Just found out from portal that son was waitlisted for Fall 2012 and admitted for Spring 2013.

Waitlisted from Watson, totally bummed. This was my first choice school. How do we know if they accept/reject now for waitlisted. also… Bruceb28… How did you find out he was accepted for Spring?? How does that even work??

Wolgnah - my son’s status checker said “Decision made”, “Fall Wait List - Spring Offer”.

I was deferred from EA, and yesterday I checked my status online and it said wait list but no email or letter. I really regret applying to SOM now. I know a bunch of people from my school who got into Harpur that have lower gpas and sat scores than me :/. I should have tried switching to Harpur as soon as I found out I was deferred in Jan.
I got into 6 other schools so I’m trying not to let it get to me too much but Binghamton was my number 1 school, its just so frustrating.

Yea I’m not gonna lie I didn’t have the best grades or e.c activities and still accepted to Binghamton. And I’m not even going there because the area is so depressing. Hopefully I get accepted to NYU.

if it was possible i would give my binghamton acceptance to someone who really wanted to go there lol

Son was finally OFFICIALLY accepted. He was ok to pay deposit on 3/23. He received e-mail on 3/23 inviting him to an admitted student reception in our area and it said “hope you got the invite” (which he didn’t). Just got big green acceptance envelope via snail mail yesterday 3/28. Never got an acceptance e-mail, and status page still says nothing about acceptance or rejection.

so i guess what the admissions office tell u is complete BS, im a transfer looking to get in, and nothing on my page has changed, no letter or email yet… so i have no clue when im going to find out, if i ever find out… i just wanna know already haha

honestly, binghamton really made me believe it is about WAY more than GPA and SAT scores. I know students whose gpas, curriculum, and sat scores were lower than mine, and they were accepted EA meanwhile I was deferred. It really must depend on your essay and ecs.

I was deferred to regular decision and still have not heard from them. What date are all decisions supposed to be made by?
