I'm always told, by my guidance counselor, and by my parents, to keep in touch with an admissions officer to show my interest in a school. But...how does that work? I am I supposed to call the guy up so we can have weekly chats about the weather and current events or something? -sarcasm- But really, what do admissions officers want to hear from kids who are "interested"?

Dartmouth does not care about or factor demonstrated interest in to their admissions decisions.

Your calling every week is the equivalent of trying to teach a pig to dance;

It is a waste of time and it upsets the pig.

Don't do it at places like D that have huge numbers of applicants. You'll just annoy the already-overwhelmed admissions officers.

Save "showing the love" for your safety, especially if it is a small LAC in the midwest that actually cares about displayed interest. Even then, weekly contact seems more like stalking than showing interest to me.

Maybe a letter saying something about how much you like the school and why you want to go there. Especially if you have some kind of accomplishment to update them on.

Alright, thanks for the help; will definitely keep that in mind.
