Admissions Parking

My son and I are coming to Boston later this week for an info session and tour. We need to be there at 10 am. What’s the parking situation for admissions visits? Will it be a problem?

Suggestions? We are planning a Boston and back in a day trip from western Connecticut … so we are leaving early in the morning.

We also came from CT and parked along the street near admissions. There was some construction but seemed to be adequate meter parking. Bring lots of quarters - the admissions people told us that the local cops see a financial opportunity in out-of-towners … to the point that they even recommended leaving the tour early to feed the meters. Have a great time!

I just very recently went for a BU info session and despite what the website says about parking troubles, we had absolutely no problems finding parking. We didn’t have enough quarters for the full one hour, but just got in time before the cops gave out tickets. It’s a great info session too, enjoy!

Until just before school starts, parking is not a problem. Lots of street spaces in the area. Bring quarters because the Boston meter only take quarters, except in Back Bay where they’ve switched to a machine that prints a label and takes credit cards.

Call parking services at BU. When we went for our visits, they were very accomodating about giving us a BU day parking pass AND telling us which lots we could use.

Since you’re coming for a morning info session and tour, and it’s also summer, you should have some decent choices for parking. D and I visited BU on a Saturday morning last October and had no problem finding parking in a lot right off of Commonwealth Avenue. Good luck and enjoy your visit. I like thumper1’s suggestion about contacting BU parking services ahead of time.

Visit report:

LOTS of construction, Bay State Rd closed, no parking to be had. We turned on Deerfield and found a lot where we could park all day for $10 on the corner of Deerfield and Commonwealth. It was easy, close to Admissions, and also close to lunch options.

Liked the school … it is on S2’s list!
