My son received an email from Admissions stating his application was received by the November deadline however the supporting documents have not been received, therefore "they are unable to make a decision until missing documents are received. Your decision will be available the last Friday in MARCH after 6pm" The document they are referreing to is the "SAR " Self-Reported AcademicRecord. My son has "email confirmations from the school and screen prints of everything he sent-"including the SAR"---with time and date" February 14 is the "first" acceptance notification that will be sent, I don't feel my son should have to wait until March. I called the college all afternoon but I was either put on hold or just transferred around. My son is freaking out and I am worried sick over this. Does anyone have suggestions as to whom I should try to get a hold of at the college--Dean of Admissions?? or Should I take a day off and go to the school in Person????

Currently the Admissions Office is at their clinax of the year. They are doing last-minute decisions like never before. If its anything like my time, the Admissions Office wilk be closed-door in the week of decisions due to a mass slow-down in UF’s network due to too many people logging in for there status.

I can honestly say that there is nothing you can really do in this matter (even if its not really your fault) as the Admissions Office is busy. You two will have to be a bit patient until they open-door (they may still be busy with appeals and such) and then you can argue your case. It is usually the case where your son may have already been decided but is on hold due to lack of important files or for applicant integrity. If this is that case, you may receive your decision much sooner.

Nonetheless, it is very likely that it is too late to argue your case, and you wilk have to wait a week or two to argue your case and then some time for them to 're-decide".

Hope all goes well.

New this year, UF stop accepting transcripts and instead required that the student enter the info (off the HS transcripts) into the SAR. If the student is accepted, then UF will request the transcript, after graduation from high school.

http://www.admissions.ufl.edu/ugrad/sar.html

Most high schools will not input the information into the SAR, the student (or their parents) have to enter it themselves. Are you sure the HS took care of it?

If the High School did “submit” the SAR, then you have solid grounds for an appeal. Either the HS made a mistake, or UF did. Keep trying to reach them by phone, but this week (and the next) will be bad (as HectorSalamanca said). UF has an appeals process, and you should follow it (and not just wait on the March date). Make sure UF gets the SAR and that they are aware of the reasons for it’s delay.

In the mean time, has he applied to any other schools, as you now need a backup plan. You’ll have lots of options (still), as he can apply to other state universities (Like UNF, UCF, USF), go to a local CC (which would save you both a ton of $$), or take a gap year before re-applying to UF. Over 25% of UF’s undergrads are transfer students from local CC’s.

This is just a bump in the road.

Good Luck!

I would have your son ( not you) email admissions , asking for an explanation & attaching copies of the screenshots of the SAR. The UF admissions office has been quick to respond to any emails my son has sent.
