regional rep reads all the apps and generates an opinion about each candidate.

regional rep sits down with dean of admission and an admissions rep from the school you applied to (i.e. nursing, wharton, seas, sas) and pitches each candidate to the two adcoms. They all decide if you get accepted or not. So if the regional rep likes your app he or she can push for you.

So basically the fate of my college admissions rests with the regional rep huh? Dizzam.

What I was wondering is: who is your regional rep? Is it from the region of the high school or from where I live? (I go to high school in another region according to Penn).

Well yes I know that but who would my regional rep be? The region of my school or that of my residence? If anybody has any idea it would be helpful (although I may have to call Penn up to find out anyways).

It's on their website and I think they go by where you live and not by your school. They say it helps to contact your regional rep. Don't bug them but just let them know you exist.

i believe it's by your schools region...definitely try to get to know your regional rep. For example when I was applying the regional rep came to give a talk at my school and it ended up being her, two other students, and myself just chatting. She definitely remembered me because in my admission letter she sent me a personal note saying congrats and asking my knee was doing (she was at my h.s. right after I had had knee surgery).

I will try and find out why my rep is (whether school, which is most likely, or by home). I used to have contact with a rep but apparently he isn't an admissions rep anymore. I had a few questions to ask anyways so I will give whoever my representative is a call.

eh, I've talked with various wharton advisors about admissions, and I also talked to the lady who runs the program I was in about them. Also, my guidance counselor for high school was a college admissions god.
