Admissions question

<p>First off, I have a 3.0 unweighted GPA, and only 3.3 weighted. Not great. My SATs are pretty good, with a 1270 (690 Crit Reading, 580 Math), with a 710 in writing.</p>

<p>Now, the thing is, even with those things, I was a member of a Gifted and Talented Intensive Performing Arts program for all four years, and I'd go there in the morning (it was at another high school), and then in the afternoon go to my local high school for my academics.</p>

<p>My extracurriculars are specialized and very good. Religious peer leadership, community service, youth group, and lots of plays.</p>

<p>I have an excellent essay.</p>

<p>I'm taking a chance and applying to these schools. Do I have any chance whatsoever? I'm NOT applying for a BfA. Mostly applying as a Communications major.</p>

<p>I'd like to add the performing arts program counts as an honors course, and is in lieu of electives.</p>

<p>I also have a great recommendation from an English teacher and my guidance counselor.</p>

<p>I think that you have a really good chance at all of these schools (NYU is probably a stretch, but depending on your recs and essays, even this might be possible.) I think that admissions committees are looking for people who are different, and your resume looks very interesting.</p>
