Just a quick question. I work about 30 hrs/wk and my long work hours have had a slight affect on my grades. I have a C in AP Calc this year and will be earning a 3.8 weighted at the end of my senior year's first semester. Last year I earned a 4.5. I got a 30 ACT and have a ton of extra-curriculars and community service. Does the C ruin my chances?

I wouldn’t say it ruins your chances, but it doesn’t look good to an admissions counselor. However, they might take in consideration the number of hours you work a week because that is pretty impressive.

A “C” wont ruin your chances, was it in A/B or B/C? calc? but its really important that you have a very strong appication in ALL areas for Vandy. It might sound odd, but if you havent written your essay yet, focusing on your work ethic and how much you valiues your inschool learning and what you are learning outsode of the class might help. When they say they have a holistic approach to looking at applications, they mean it. They want the rounded person entirely. If it had been possible for you to go ED1 or ED2 during application that strongly helps your chances. Remember, its about the numbers… even qualified application get turned down, because there just isnt enough space for everyone of them. good luck.
