1) Does CSM require applicants to have a 3.8+ gpa?

2) What is the probable time applicants who graduate high school in June 2014 are able to apply?

3) Chance me.
I want to major in Petroleum engineering.

I’m a OOS applicant from a highly competitive high school in NY (US News #2).
MY school doesn’t rank.
3.3/4.0 gpa.
SAT I: 2030 (600 CR, 740 M, 690 W)

As you can see I have a relatively low gpa and less than stellar SAT score. I expect to do much better on the ACT coming up in September.

ECs
-Mock Trial Team (4 years)
Won city champions and was a state finalist freshmen year.
-Interning at a Accounting and Law firm this summer.
-There are various clubs that I joined through out my time in high school.
-I want to do a sport senior year and begin volunteering sometime soon.

Checked Naviance report for CSM (classes 2009-13), which indicates that from my son’s large Colorado public high school, 6 out of the 8 applicants with gpa < 3.5 were rejected.
Only 6 out of 80 applicants with gpa > 3.5 were rejected.

As an OOS applicant, I’m not sure your GPA and scores will be enough. But there’s so much more than those that make up your profile. I would apply and see what happens.

FWIW, my son just received his in-state admission letter and he was accepted with a 4.0 (he has a 5.0 but they don’t use weighted scores) #1 class rank, and a 34 ACT. He’s only 15 also.

There are only 875 spots in the freshman class, so it’s a competitive field. Your chosen major is most likely even more competitive.

If you haven’t already, definitely get some more community service in and get a good ACT if you haven’t already.

You may get into CSM but it’s most likely you won’t get any merit-based aid if you do. Have you seen the OOS tuition?
