Admissions questions

I was wondering if a video audition would greatly decrease my chances of being accepted into the program - I know that a live audition is greatly preferred but I live in the Philippines, meaning that there is no way for me to make the trip to the States to audition live if my parents are going to afford to even send me to NYU!

Also I was wondering if I could apply to both the Music Business and the Music Theatre programs so that in case I don’t get into one, I may get into the other - I’m just nervous because, although NYU is a borderline safety/target (although I treat it as a target/borderline reach because I love it so much - I have a 3.8 unweighted, around a 4.03 weighted, a 2270 SAT score, I go to an incredibly challenging school that has had many people who had much lower GPAs attend NYU, I participate in many extracurriculars) academically, I have no idea what my chances would be like artistically. I have limited experience with musical theatre - I’m in my school’s Show Choir which is very selective, I have participated in the school’s honor choir festival (as an alternate freshman year, as a festival choir member sophomore year and will most likely be part of the octet this year and next year), and I have been taking private voice lessons and IB HL Theatre, but that’s about it. I haven’t yet been in a musical or play during high school as I’m heavily involved in the Model United Nations program which runs at the same time (it is impossible to do both). Would my limited experience greatly inhibit me?

Lastly, what are the acceptance rates for internal transfers like?

Thank you!

i don’t know the answer to your first question, but i should think that they’d understand, since you live so far away, that it would be hard for you to do a live audition. good luck! :)
