What are the differences in acceptance rates between the different schools at BC? Are there any that are particularly easier or harder to get into? Just out of curiosity…

Carroll is the most difficult to be admitted to, CAS second most difficult, and LSOE/CSON have noticeably lower admission standards (with regards to standardized testing for the most part).

Never seen 'em published but trizz posted the popular ‘wisdom[. However, I believe it to be more gender-specific. Nationally, undergrad biz schools are female-friendly in admissions, and there is no reason that CSOM should be any different. Thus, it is possible/likely that CSOM < CAS for a female, and the reverse is true for a male applicant. Just speculatin’

I was told by an admissions officer that Arts & Sciences has the lowest admissions rate, but the difference in between schools’ rates is less that 1%.

Dear PrettyAwesome27 : You have gotten all of the answers in this thread. The populist story from trizz75, the inside-the-numbers profiles from bluebayou, and the actual statistical admisssions variation from SaintSaens. The fact is that the admissions rate based on the application received by each school does vary by less than 1.5% overall and is closer to 1.0%.

A discussion as to which school inside Boston College is harder or easier for admission is somewhat like discussing your favorite shade of grey.

In fact, the four disciplines (arts and sciences, business, nursing, and education) are so different and distinct that the admission differences are secondary to the actual course work in which you are interested.

Like others have alluded to, I am using common wisdom and foolishly forgot to preface what I said with this fact.

Interestingly, Businessweek has a profile of most notable business programs, and CSOM compares to the rest of the school as follows:

University

Acceptance rate: 31%
Yield of accepted students enrolling: 25%

CSOM

Acceptance rate: 27%
Yield of accepted students enrolling: 31%
