Admissions Reality Show

So I just saw in the paper yesterday that ABC has a new reality show called the Scholar starting this summer. The article said 10 kids are competing for a full ride. I've been trying to find more information about the show, so I'm wondering if any of you have heard of it. I'm wondering if it's just one school they're applying to and which one it is. Any 411??

I guess it was only a matter of time. Only this reality show sounds too close to life for comfort! LOL

Its 'The Apprentice' for Teenagers. Can we vote the adcom off the island?

thats from last year ppl. Two of my friends applied for that and almost got on the show. (They worked the 6'5 twins angle- LOL). I think both received full rides (or close to it) from Amherst. The dean of admissions at Amherst has twins so he might've had a soft spot for them...

I actually met one of the kids who was on the show (after it had been taped). He could tell me what happened though... :( !

hahaha...i heard a couple of admissions officers actually created the show, so maybe we'll get to see behind the scenes on how colleges make decisions.

Heehee, that's really funny. Senior year in high school, a couple of friends and I decided to do a video production project spoof on survivor/america's next top model/the apprentice/american idol (one of our "adcom" members was pseudo-named Simone Crowell, and mimicked Simon's biting remarks perfectly...) with the theme being admission to America's top University, "Ivy League State."

We had spoofs on everything from the college admissions process in there - trying to write creative essays, legacy students, the girl who gets a 1590 on the SAT and thinks she needs to retake it, ... writing the script for that was SO fun :-P

Regrettably, we never finished filming, but I wish we had... ah, you guys probably don't care about this, but this thread sure brings back a ton of wonderful memories from last year...

I found this on another post.....sounds tight!

Description:
THE SCHOLAR (new alternative series) – The opportunity of a lifetime is about to come true for one of America’s best and brightest high school students in a groundbreaking unscripted series that will send the winner to a top-rated university, all expenses paid. Filmed on location at the University of Southern California, “The Scholar” will be the first show ever to celebrate higher education as the ultimate American prize. For the chance of a full-ride to the college of their choice, ten qualified high school seniors -- who might not otherwise have an opportunity to pursue a college education -- will compete for a full scholarship and all college related expenses, a prize valued at $250,000. They will have to demonstrate excellence in the areas of academics, leadership, creativity and community service, while facing sudden-death oral exams and defending themselves to an Ivy League scholarship committee. “The Scholar” is a concept based on an original idea by Jaye Pace, Shannon Meairs and Waxman Williams Entertainment. Steve Martin, Joan Stein, Jon Murray, Marcy Carsey and Tom Werner will serve as executive producers. Series premieres MONDAY, JUNE 6 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET).
