Admissions Scandal brings down U of I President

Middsmith:

You said the following. “Why isn’t anyone mentioning Obama real root? Occidential. Ultimate dumb school.”

How is it a school that ranks 34th on USNWR for Liberal Arts is an “untimate dumb school”? Are St. Johns, Spelman, Connecticut College, and Skidmore “ultimate dumb” schools as well? By your definition, they must be.

BTW, Occidental freshman have a median SAT score of 2000. Hardly an “ultimate dumb” score.

And don’t think I am some biased alum because I am not. I went to a service academy and Columbia for grad school. I do have a child at Columbia who, unlike you, has enough class to never categorize any college as an “ultimate dumb” school.

By the way, the POTUS transferred to Columbia and has done quite well. If you think you have acheived something greater in your life, I’d sure like to hear about it.

“But if you think that anything more than the tiniest fraction of admissions decisions are tainted by connectedness, legacy status, celebrity, etc, then you really need to get that persecution complex sorted.”

Read “The Price of Admission” by Danial Golden, 2006 to get the answer. It discusses the direct line between the development and admissions offices at the most selective schools and shows that it’s not an overwelming number, but it’s surely more than the tiniest fractions, too.

I notice that this pinned ‘hot’ thread is nearly 7 years old now. You would think that those who want to attract students to UofI would want a better thread at the top of their forum.

Has ANYthing changed in those 7 years? :-<
