Admissions Thread

ds anxiously awaiting the Jan 15 deadline...anyone know how quickly decisions are rolled out?

UD Admissions made the following comments on Facebook

“We’re almost ready to start sending acceptance packets for early action applicants - check out all the careful work that goes into the process!” (1/10/11)

“early action decision letters will be mailed starting January 15th!” (1/8/11)

Do they send out all the decision letters on January 15th for the people who applied early action? Or is that just the date they begin sending the letters out?

D got her acceptance letter yesterday. So they are on their way…

S got acceptence letter, honor program and merit aid today! Waiting for one more college though he probably will be a Flyer.

I did not get in…well I didn’t hear anything at all actually.

And I was really surprised. I know this will come off as extremely arrogant, but I had over a 4.0 GPA, SAT qualified me for the highest merit aid, and literally half of my dad’s side went to UD.

I live in Ohio and a lot of kids heard back today…but a lot of kids with similar stats didn’t hear anything as well. (well at least the few I talked to)

so I guess I shouldn’t worry?

I wouldn’t worry with those stats… Son had similar “wait” for the mail with another school. EA letters just went out so if you missed that deadline, you may be waiting a few weeks, otherwise I would expect the “big letter” on Tuesday (Monday - no mail service).

DS is in, honors, and Trustees Merit Scholarship. I loved Dayton, but not sure he’ll go.

I’m a freshman at UD and I applied early action. I got my decision online, actually, because I applied online. I don’t recall the web address though. I checked it last year on the day decisions were released and it was already up that I was accepted. I received my letter of acceptance about 5 days after. I live in SW Ohio, so not very far from UD at all.

Also, I don’t want to hijack this thread but if any parents or potential flyers have any questions about UD, I would be happy to answer them! feel free to PM me.

My son also received an acceptance letter today with honors offer and Trustees Merit Scholarship. I also loved Dayton, but currently UD is not necessarily his #1 choice.

I waited for the mail to come today, and there was nothing from Dayton. I was wondering if you guys thought it would be wise to email their admissions department?

I received an email on December 10th (5 days before the deadline) stating that I was missing my ACT Scores, Guidance Counselor Form, and High School Transcript. I had sent my ACT earlier, so they should have had it by then. Plus, my Counselor Form and Transcript were both uploaded with my Common App, so they should have had them by then, too. However, the email also said that they had a high volume of mail and that if I had sent my info in the past 21 days (which I had), that there was just a delay in their system. I haven’t received any further communication from them.

What do you think? Did you guys receive a PIN number to log into their online status check website?

I also expected that I would get my letter today, but it didn’t show up. I decided to just call the admissions office and they were very nice and were able to tell me that I had been accepted and that my letter was on its way. If you wanted to find out sooner it probably wouldn’t hurt to call like I did, but otherwise you will probably find out within the next few days.

I got an email on the 9th of December saying they were missing some of my documents but because I never received another email from them I just assumed they had gotten everything. I would bet that the same thing for you too, so I’m sure you’re fine. Hope that helps.

We received notice of admittance to the honors program on January 15th with merit aid. It is a real possibility DD will end up a Flyer but there are several schools offering quite a bit more money to us and now we are trying to figure out if UD really is worth the price difference. Anyone have opinions?

Ok, thanks a bunch swimmer024! I didn’t receive anything today either, but I’m gonna give them some time. I’m glad someone else is in my boat! haha

Still waiting and had all his stuff since mid October…son does not want to call so hoping for mail again!

Rejected…shocked, was worried about scholarship amount not admission.

ddd928, can I ask your son’s stats? I have a 3.1 gpa and 28 act. I have not received anything from Dayton yet, and I am worried sick that they are going to reject me as it is my number 1.

30 ACT, 81% UW GPA from selective, competitive jesuit school. Has ADD diagnosed in HS and wrote about in essay on overcoming obstacles. Varsity hockey, captain, intramurals, community service, senior leader…

I just got my acceptance letter, I’m surprised your son didn’t get in because my GPA is 86, not even that much better. I guess UD is getting more selective as more people apply.

Just got my acceptance letter.
2.89 GPA
1810 SAT
Somehow I got a $10k per year scholarship…mistake?
Also, I think I was accepted to the wrong major. How can I change it to a different major in the same school I was accepted into? (Engineering)
