Admissions update from parent news letter today

Wow, 25% acceptance rate for early action and early decision.
NU had a 28% acceptance rate for fall 2015.
What does this mean for all in admission rate?

Admissions update: Fall 2016
For high school seniors, this is an important time of year. Although regular decision results have not been released for the incoming class of Fall 2016, early decision and early action have been announced. These decisions are major indicators of Northeastern’s reputation and applicants’ desire to be #NUready.

Key:
Early Decision (ED): This is the second year that Northeastern University offered the ED option to applicants. ED means a binding agreement to attend the university. Typically, only students who strongly believe NU is their first choice apply ED.
Early Action (EA): non-binding admission.

If I’m reading it correctly, there were 891 ED applicants and only 222 were admitted, plus 169 offered NUin. Wow, I’m surprised they did not accept more ED. And for EA, they offered NUin to no one? Meaning most EAs were deferred.

Anyone have these numbers from last year? I’m curious to see the change.

Admission Statistics: Acceptance Rates – Early vs. Regular

Those figures are several years old. I read that Northeastern was trying to equalize the EA/RD acceptance rates

Thanks for sharing wave100. Much tougher to get into Northeastern now. I too was surprised by the minimal acceptances from the ED round. They have so many applicants in total that they are not forced to accept the ED students like at other universities.
