Did anyone else receive an email from UCR saying that they’re being recommended for admissions? What exactly does this mean?
Yup, I just got it. I’m assuming it means we will be admitted, but I wonder if it has anything to do with regents or the honors program!
Yeah I got one of those emails as well. 4.18 UC GPA and 2080 SAT.
I also received this email.
3.9 UC GPA and 1940 SAT
I believe it is a recommendation for honors program.
Edit: Just went to their website and found this:
Q: If I am invited to apply to University Honors does that mean that I have been admitted to UCR?
A: University Honors only invites students to apply if they have already been admitted to UCR. If you received information from University Honors, our records indicate you have the high school GPA necessary to be eligible to apply. Admission to University Honors is selective. Students are encouraged to invest time in the application process. Each year University Honors receives a large volume of applications for limited spaces.
A bit confusing considering I haven’t received an official email stating I have been admitted, but I’m guessing our chances are pretty high.
“I also encourage you to explore the University Honors Program. University Honors is a four-year program for students who value intellectual challenges and want to be part of an innovative, diverse, and stimulating learning community. Only the top students in the entering freshman class are invited to participate in this unique opportunity and you should apply at honors.ucr.edu/admissions.”
But the website says I need an email from them to apply? This email is confusing.
Email Is clear as mud. So r we in or not? So far in my school most of us who applied were walking around with the same email scratching our heads. Maybe call to u r office is due.
My son got one of these today, too. I’m thinking it’s good news! After all, they end by saying “we look forward to welcoming you to the UC Riverside Family soon.” We’re family, right?
Yes, it is a good sign. I would say you will be accepted, just when is the question? Good Luck. Both my son’s received similar emails and both were accepted. Good Luck to all.
My son got this email today as well. Are you all Engineering applicants? Weird wording, especially with the " you should apply to honors". and “honors is by invite only”, without specifically being an invite to apply to honors. His stats: 4.15 UC GPA and 31 ACT.
Question regarding Honors program - is it a requirement to receiving a merit scholarship?
@calmom2016: My younger son received the Chancellor’s scholarship without applying to the Honors program so I assume it is not a requirement unless something has changed…
Thanks Gumbymom ! He’s not sure he wants to apply to any of the Honors programs, so we would be happy if scholarships (if any are forthcoming) are not related.
Received the same email!
“You truly are an accomplished individual and because of your performance, we are recommending you for admission to the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (CHASS) at the University of California, Riverside (UCR).”
It feels like a very vague acceptance hahaha. Apparently, only high ranking/stat students receive the email, so it is safe to say that we’ll all be “formally” accepted?!
Consider it a likely letter like the Ivies send out to applicants. Definitely a good sign.
As per my daughters counselor it basically means you are in but they cant/wont tell you this till they formally release.
Received the same email. It’s probably an early sort of acceptance.
4.21 UC GPA
1530 SAT
23 ACT
ELC
Son received the same email from the BCOE. He has not received an email with a link to the honors application.
4.14 UC GPA
1890 SAT
28 ACT
I received this email too. Just now read what it means on their website:
http://honors.ucr.edu/admissions/faq.html
see the 2nd question and the answer!!!
Looks like UCR is sending out positive feelers. Although this is not a confirmed admission, but something to that effect.
“…because of your performance, we are recommending you for admission to the University of California, Riverside (UCR). You will be hearing from UC Riverside on your admission in March…”
UCR is our safety school and it is always good to have something in hand.
As far as I know, D did not receive this email yesterday, even though UCR is a safety for her (4.18 UC GPA, 2320 SAT). Do you think these emails are being sent out in waves? I’ll have to double check with her when she gets home from school today.
@Mom2jl Mine was in the promotions section of gmail which I usually do not check.
