Admissions?

Okay, so I know that Ivy League schools are competitive. I guess I'm just curious as to how important the different factors of the application are.

I have great essays if I do say so myself. I went to Sudan this summer to film a documentary on Darfur with HBO. I wrote about that, and activism, as well as my other international experiences.

I got a 30 on the ACT and a 2000 on the SAT. My Subject Tests scores were pretty low, in the 600s. I have a 4.1 GPA this semester with a 3.8 overall with 6 AP Classes and 2 Dual-Enrollment (College) courses.

I have a lot of volunteer experience, I've worked two jobs, as well as owned my own small business.

I've done a lot, but I'm still horrified about getting accepted. I know the acceptance rates are low and I'm doing my best not to get my hopes up.

My questions are:

Is there anything else I can do (at this point) to improve my application?
How important are the different aspects of the application?
Anyone at Yale or with experience with Ivy League applications...Chances of acceptance?

Thanks so much! Merry Christmas!

I’m assuming you’re a junior? Ask your teachers EARLY (and by early, I mean like Labor Day weekend in September early) for recs, and make sure you write them nice little notes/give a small gift for doing so. I think having two really good recs were part of the reason that I stood out from a crowd of other applicants…
Other than that, if you are a junior, maybe consider retaking the SAT and SAT IIs - 2000 and 600s is a bit low for Yale, which might hurt you competitively
