Hi
I really loved Bowdoin - do I have a chance of getting in
SAT
Math 700
CR - 720
Writing - 660
ACT Composite - 30

Grade point 3.88
Total of 9 AP classes - I am taking 5 this year and first semester grades in them were 3 A’s and 2 B’s.
In a highly competitive magnet program at my high school with a high acceptance rate at highly selective schools (Stanford, Berkley, Yale, MIT etc)
Toured last summer and had a great interview with an alumni -
Extra curricular - in Youth Leadership program, played Club soccer, coached youth soccer, S Club (service club), 4 week Spanish Immersion program in Spain last summer
Also I live in California - will that help for a school in Maine?
Any ideas to help the process - can I send Admissions a letter restating how interested I am

I think it will depend on your recs, essay and how much interest you have shown. Thier admissions has gotten alot tighter in the past couple of years. I know a bunch of kids with GPA’s similar to yours and with ACTS around 33/34…rejected the year we got out of high school. I hope it works for you, especially if you love the school. It is never too late to show your committed interest so I’d go ahead and send a letter…can’t hurt.

to be honest, numbers don’t really matter. i didn’t send in my schools, that’s probably why. but i scored a 26 on my ACT, but that doesn’t mean anything. i’m in the top 5% with a 4.633, although GPA doesn’t mean anything either. but i’m pretty sure it means more than my scores. don’t worry about your scores, worry about your personal statement. that’s what got me in, i think. it needs to be strong.
