Admit Day?

^Oh man I didn’t even noticed you posted those before. Those are some damn nice pictures!

@kingselite,

Are you going to be an RA for the res halls or apartments?

Res halls.

Haha it would be nice to meet you guys and all during admit day.

Whoo hoo, waiting for my Berkeley rejection :D

I’d loooove to see you guys on preview day. Oh yeah, I’m a girl by the way…the screen name was picked more or less as a joke :>.

Hmm, I might try convincing my parents if I could go… Are you just going to fly in on the morning of and fly out after it’s done?

Lol, I’m a girl too. Is it just supposed to be like a trip with parents or can I just come alone?

Oh lord Adam. I think I referred to you as a male before. My apologies.

And I’m flying there Friday night and back on Sunday.

Adamantoise = FF reference I think!

Hmm my parents are either going to insist on driving (D: like 6 hour car drive) or maybe they’ll make me walk if I’m super unlucky haha.

Oh oh oh does anyone know if it’s possible to take like Amtrak or something from San Jose to SD? or Vice versa?

@JeSuis: It’s fine, haha.

@Confucius: Yup! It’s from FF, :smiley:
I looked at Amtrak and it takes like 12 hours and you have to transfer a couple times. :confused:
I just checked Southwest and it seems like it’s $79 one way.

oh wow Adam is a female… lol…i apologize too… you have helped me a lot in this whole UCSD wait and chance thingy and i keep referring to you as a “he”… lol sorry.

Hey, it’s no problem. I didn’t even notice lol.

And just got rejected to Berkeley! Now I have more reason to go to UCSD :slight_smile: I’ll still have to convince them though :p

Oh my gosh. The unexpected happened.

CAL OR UCSD D:

Ahhh Im being torn in twooo

Actually it’s like a no brainer…seriously, foggy hobo dungeon or gorgeous beachside school with awesome view. Sigh. Unfortunately, Asian parents like the foggy hobo dungeon more ): Nooooo I would have loved to go to UCSD T__T

Wow, congratulations! Even though I think you were in the situation I was (parents made me apply to UCB even though I rather go to UCSD).

Are they set already? It’s ultimately your decision(not really) but you could beg :p

You’d get a great education and college experience in both places. Foggy hobo dungeon ain’t a bad thing!

Foggy hobo dungeon? Ha ha. My grandpa actually advised me against going to Berkeley (He was the Dean of Veterinary Medicine at UC Davis for a long time). He really doesn’t like the place for undergrads. He actually thought UCSD would be best for me, but I ended up wanting to go here anyway.

Great pics JeSuis! When my D and I visited last year, it was pouring down rain - we saw no sun - couldn’t even see the ocean. If she decides to attend admit day and it is that gorgeous it could make her reorder her rankings on where to go (she’s Warren/aerospace).

Some other fun facts, my grandpa was on the committee to pick the first chancellor for UCSD and my grandma was in the finance office for the University of California coming up with the budget for UCSD when it first opened.

@LaLew: I was accepted to Warren, also. Hopefully it’s as nice as the two time I’ve visited!

@Kings: That’s pretty cool! Did that play a roll in your decision?

haha yes, I’m a Warren admitee too,

What’s hard is that I can’t get myself to post in Cal’s threads at all. I simply just hate the location (please, CAL is oakland’s back yard, the “beach” there is gross, hobos everywhere, D:) I mean really, foggy hobo dungeon is wholly appropriate. I’ve been calling it that for years.

Haha yeah they’re set on Berkeley. I think it’s just been a dream of theirs for me to go to cal. Unfortunately, my dream was always to go to SD lol. I just love the school. What can I say? It just feels right to be there. I love surfing and swimming and warm weather. I think I would turn to dust in Cal. I hate Norcal beaches :> I was so looking forward to SD.
(Privately yesterday I was hoping I would get rejected from Cal so my parents would let me go to SD. Pretty weird huh?)

Personally I want to do Bio and then Premed -> Cosmetic Surgery, I really feel like UCSD might be a better choice for that path. Meh. Parents love Cal. What can I do :/

^So your parents won’t let you go to UCSD even if you tell them you really REALLY want to go there?

@JeSuis

No actually. For years I had always wanted to go to Davis because my grandpa worked there and I really liked the place anyway. He suggested looking at UCSD (as well as Irvine). Even after I visited the campus I still felt like I wanted to go to Davis and it wasn’t until I visited Davis one last time (even though I had been there plenty of times) that I decided on UCSD. It was a really difficult decision for me. And it wasn’t until after I had already picked UCSD that he told me he thought I would be best off here. It was completely my decision though, my family was letting me choose where I wanted to go.

Davis is definitely a good choice for Northern Californians who want to stay close. And even though I haven’t visited in almost 4 years, I do remember it being pretty nice.
Funny story, I broke my wrist at Davis and had to have it reset (I was at video game design camp… don’t laugh.) Maybe that’s why it hasn’t appealed to me more :p

And confucius, you definitely need to have a talk with your parents. They’re not the ones who will be spending the next four years of their life in “Foggy Hobo Dungeon,” you are.

So, back to admit day: I’m not flying back home until Monday night, so I want to possibly sit in on a class on Monday… So I’m gonna check the website with classes one can audit.
