Is it beneficial to go to Admit Day on April 10th? I live quite a ways away so it may be difficult for me make it that day. Is visiting UCSD on Admit Day any different than going any other regular day and taking a tour?

I was also wondering this, because I’m going to visiting with my school on March 26.

Yes, Admit Day is different than regular school days because it is held on Saturday and it tends to the needs of newly admitted students. They have campus tours, booths, etc. The difference between coming on Admit Day and on a regular day is that Admit Day is more festive and energetic because all the events on that day will be specialized for new admits whereas on a regular tour day, you just go on a tour and leave. Admit Day last from 8am-2pm so there’s plenty to do. Also, there is FREE STUFF! However, if it is too far for you and cost too much/is too inconvenient, then it’s not worth it to come.

I’m a first year in Muir and UCSD was NOT at all my first choice. Actually UCI was my first (which, yes, may sound weird). But going to admit day for me, personally, is what changed my mind. I fell in love with the campus that day and when i got home that night, i turned in my SIR. I am originally from Sacramento, so i had to fly in that morning, and fly back after the day was over, so i know how you feel regarding the distance issue. However, as a committee member of muir’s admit day, i know that there will be more events happening on admit day than JUST tours.

It is not a mandatory day, but just from personal experience, i’d say to try your best to make your way down here.

My parents are really eager to accompany me to Admit Day, can they come too? Or is it just a student thing?

Parents are definitely welcome and encouraged to come!

Thanks for the responses! I’ll definitely try to make Admit Day.
I think free stuff was the deal breaker for me. :P

Is this for anyone who was accepted or is it only for the people who have already made up their minds that they’re going to UCSD?

Also, can anyone compare this day with the Honors Experience Day at UCI? I went this weekend to UCI for that and it wasn’t really helpful at all. Is UCSD’s admit day more informative/entertaining?

Admit day is for anyone admitted. The point of admit day is to (hopefully) help you choose ucsd over other universities.
