admit, deny, or defer?

ive been wondering about this-- i applied ED to Penn (SAS) by the way...

sat scores (Sat 1 and both 2's) are all in the mid 600 range
GPA = 4.0 unweighted, 4.4 weighted - grades and SATS just dont match
most rigorous senior courseload possible, 11 honors throughout
prestigious private school in PA with a great relationship with Penn - 7 kids matriculated last year alone, 20-25 in the past 4 years

here is just a brief sampling of my EC's (i attached a resume)

and - both parents went to penn for undergrad, dad has Ph.D and Masters from penn, and my dad teaches economics as the penn's SAS and finance at Wharton

will this connection compensate for my below average SAT scores? what are my chances? ill answer more questions if you want to know more

admit/defer..UPENN is like a legacy whore, just suck up all the legacies..now specially ur dad's a faculty...screw that u r in

in....guessing

reject imho too low SAT this is UPENN not penn state

lol the fact taht ur dad teaches there+he went there means hes important legacy. Ur GPA will hold up and ur dad probably had a chat with admissions so you're pretty much in

i know clueless07, what are you talking about? double legacy + dad teaches there. the standards are already lower for legacies as it is, but with his dad teaching there too, how can you say reject?

I agree. You have nothing to worry about. All ivy leagues love legacy children and set a lower standard for them. SAT scores don't matter as much as GPA. GPA shows that you have drive, while SAT scores just tell UPENN how good you are at taking a test. You will definitely be accepted!

dude, your standards are NOT low, probably mid 50% for reg. kids, and you're double legacy

need i say more? i think you can go out and buy Penn stuff now, as it wouldnt be a waste of money

frank:

quite frankly, i dont think you have a chance. consider going to community college then transferring.

permutations, i can see you posted your own chances thread. so my question is, how the hell would you know what chances Frank871 (who, by the way, has WAY better stats than you) has getting into the colleges if you can't even figure out your own chances? i think you should stay off the chances threads..
