Got my interview offer. submitted my app on the last day.
does anyone know the matriculation rate for accepted to Yale.

Matriculation rate is in the 65% range of those offered admission. They offer roughly 1900 acceptances hoping to fill 1250 slots. Those not accepting include students who wish to delay matriculation as well as those who turn Yale down for other colleges.

(therefore, for a wait listee to be offered a spot, about 650 kids ahead of him/her need to turn Yale down)

http://www.yale.edu/oir/open/pdf_public/W033_Fresh_Admissions.pdf

Yield at 66.8% last year. Has been as high as 70% in the recent past.

What happens if more than 1,250 people accept?

^dont they have no choice but to admit them? that would be really difficult though…I mean, do they have the housing space?

What they did last year. They looked for any extra space and they approached all admitees who had inquired about taking a gap year. No kidding.

^Haha
“We’ll give you 10 thousand dollars AND this lovely handsome dan statue if you take a gap year! PLEASE!!”

^ DUUUUDE!!! that’d be SO sick :)

I would toootally take it. even if they only offered me the handsome dan statue ;)

since this is a stat thread, i thought u guys might like this image

To give a perspective on the SATs of applicants to Ivies such as Yale, out of 22000 applicants, only 11000 applicants had a score of 2100 or higher.

Could you provide a link or other citation for this? I’ve never seen statistical summaries of the applicant pool, only of the eventual matriculants.

^^^please do provide a link! and how many had 2200+?
That would be so awesome if this were true!! haha

the image didnt load up right. but who cares.
the site is
[Admission rate rises to 9.79 percent for Class of 2013 - The Daily Princetonian](http://www.dailyprincetonian.com/2009/04/01/23213/)

and it says near the bottom that 11000 applicants had 2100+ and another site recorded the total applicants at 21896 or something for Class of 2013

^Thanks for trat citation. That’s interesting, seeing as how I’m sure there are a LOT more than 11000 applicants in the country who score above 2100 superscored each year.

Another fact that I just noticed is that Ivy Leagues have relatively top sports teams. They have to then be getting top recruits (w/good background). I am betting, and i may very well be wrong but out of the 1300ish spots open, consider 150 taken by athletically capable.

I’m not suprised about that SAT statistic, schools are starting to understand standardized test mean nothing in the future success of someone in college and the workplace.

And out of these 22000 applicants, roughly ~11000 are actually competitive.

That’s a wrong analysis. 11,000 applicants had a score of 2100 or higher out of 22,000. Not acceptances. I highly doubt any applicant is going to say “Gee, my SAT is too high. My application to Princeton will mean nothing.”

That makes me feel a little better. however out of those ~11,000 competitive applicants, many of them have hooks, legacy, or URM or are rom UR-areas.

wht does urm mean?
