Admit to uncertainty?

Hey all! I've got a few applications that ask what I want to do with my life, or what I'm planning to get out of college, and even one statement of intent!

Basically, what's really exciting about college to me is that I'll finally be able to explore all kinds of areas of academic interest. I know I want to write, but I don't know what I'd want to write about. I have tons of ideas for careers, and every one seems so exciting. Sure, it's not as neat as saying "I want to be CEO of Coke" or something, but it's the truth...so...is that what they want to hear?

They want to know the truth. In your case, it's the opportunity to explore all kinds of academic interests. Write your essay about that - about your passions & interests, what intrigues you, describe the variety of things you find interesting. At your age, it's OK not to know what you want to major in, much less what your future career will be.
