Admit Weekend - Who'sgoing/Random questions Thread

Congratz to 2013! So, who's going? What are your travel plans if you've already figured them out? Does anyone know if Stanford gives "travel vouchers" to kids to come to Admit Weekend? I'm just wondering cause I'm from Hawaii and it's gonna be about 700+ to come. Would Stanford even consider giving one to someone who doesn't qualify for need based aid? See ya guys there =D

I’m going to San jose by airplane and then to stanford by shuttle
If you qualify, financialy of course, they reimburse in-state ppl upto $200 and out-of-state ppl upto $500

^^Yeah, I think the rents and I are flying into San Jose and then a shuttle to Stanford (they have a shuttle back as well, right?), but plans aren’t finalized. My mom has a choir concert that weekend, so she’s trying to decide if she should come to Admit Weekend instead…do you think the weekend is worth missing a concert for (I actually think they go all weekend, so she might just have to miss 1 or 2).

Also, I was talking to a Stanford freshman and he said Stanford reimburses everyone who goes…but I don’t really know if that’s true (from what I’ve heard on CC)??

how do you go about seeing if you qualify for reimbursement for admit weekend?

I got a shuttle that will take me there and back to the airport

Dpattz, I think all in all u will be really the only one to benefit from admit weekend, so I think ur mom should go to her concert…besides it’s not like she wouldn’t be able to visit when u actually go there

Omgitsover…well I am an SCEA admit, and I didn’t know that they would reimburse me unitl the sent me a “travel grant” form…all I have to do is send them my plane receipts, I think

wait, how do you get a shuttle?? do you have to schedule it or does it come on its own?

^^Same question.

Are there free giveaways (like T-shirts, pens, etc.)? I’m wondering if I should wait or just go ahead and buy some gear now.

^^Lol, nice. Question: has anyone here actually accepted the offer of admission?

I have! I haven’t heard anything from them since I did yesterday, though.

^^NICE! I really want to (especially when I’m on the admitted students website, lol, they have something about it on every page), but, as I’ve never been to campus, my parents are making me wait until Admit weekend. I’m completely positive that I’ll love campus and location though…it’s so me…and so, warm. ;D!

Anyway, I was just asking because i was looking at it and it said that we authorize the office of admission to do an application verification process…I’ve never heard of anything like that before…what exactly does it entail do you think? I’m not scared, lol, but it just seems weird because wouldn’t you want to make sure everything is true before accepting an applicant? Hmm, whatever! :D!

Actually, I’m not sure how they choose who gets reimbursement. My family’s income is over $100K, and I got a travel grant. I was thinking it’s a combination of financial need and distance from Stanford?

I was sent a separate travel grant letter with a reimbursement form a couple months ago (admitted early action). I thought they sent that to everyone, but maybe not.

But on the form they stated the limits for travel reimbursement as: up to $200 for California residents, $500 for those traveling outside of California, totals including up to $70 in local ground transportation.

There’s the free Stanford shuttle, called the Marguerite, to the San Francisco public transportation systems such as the CalTrain.

[Public Transit : Stanford University](http://www.stanford.edu/dept/visitorinfo/plan/public_transit.html) for more information.

From the San Francisco Airport, you can take the BART to the CalTrain Southbound to the University Avenue Palo Alto Station where the Marguerite can take you to campus. From San Jose airport, there is a free shuttle to the CalTrain station, which you would take into Palo Alto and the Marguerite will take you to campus. You can find more information about these options on each airports’ website.

If you would rather take a shuttle directly from the airport to campus, we recommend making a reservation with Super Shuttle.

^**That’s some stuff I got in email from Adriana Ramirez, from Visitor Information Services. She’s been really helpful.

^^Wado/thanks!

Not sure what that means, but I’m not worried. All of my information was true.

Wouldn’t it be nice if all of us CC kids got together while at Admit Weekend?
That would be sweet!

^^YES!!! Lol, we should wear name tags or something (hey, I’m dpattz)…eh? haha. :D!

Is everyone here going to arrive Thursday?

^Nope. I’m planning to arrive Wednesday morning because I have to leave Thursday night and I want more than one day there to explore around.

hahahaha yeah that would be so cool if we had name tags. For myself, I’m interested in who “beef supreme” is, after having read that article online about CC’ers. lol
C’mon, someone. Do they give you free Stanford gear? Cornell gives you free Cornell gear, even if you’re not going to admit weekend. I couldn’t wait, so I went ahead and ordered a Stanford t-shirt and lanyard. haha. I’ll pick up a windshield sticker at admit weekend : )

^^I’d really like to know this as well and, yeah, I’m definitely going for the “dpattz” name tag, even if no one else makes them. Lol.

But, do we get anything in the mail? Has anyone gotten the admit packet yet? Ah, I hope I get it tomorrow!

I’m down for nametags! Yes, I’ll be arriving on Thursday and leaving early Sunday morning. I’m going on a scavenger hunt and see if if I can get as many free t-shirts as possible. LOL

Who’s with me?
