Admits Weekend

Will you be going? Will you stay overnight/attend a class/talk to a professor?

Does anyone have the link for online registration? I've been looking all over the website for it, but no luck so far.

I’ll be going on April 19th!
I probably won’t stay overnight, but that might change.

I don’t think any of us have gotten new info regarding passwords and usernames for the new myPomona site, so once we get that information, I think we’ll be able to access online registration!

What about you?

We have been unable to access myPomona site all night. Each password reset did not work. Something must be wrong with the site. In any case, my D is planning to be at Pomona for the 17th-19th weekend. Should help in her decision to attend or not. Crossing fingers she likes Pomona…

Again, the admissions office is re-figuring myPomona for admitted students. You will get new information regarding myPomona from the admissions office soon! Right now, I don’t think anyone can log on.

Is the admit weekend actually a weekend? I saw that the days are the 12th and 19th, but does that mean that most people are going to be flying in on the 9th and the 16th to stay the whole weekend? Will there be things to do all weekend?

You can do an overnight either the night before (11th or 18th)the admitted student day, or the evening of the 12th or 19th.

My S was able to register on the website. There is a schedule of events for the day, starting at 8:30am, ending at 3:45pm.

The website was my.pomona.edu/ics/inatpomona

As a current student who fell in love with Pomona during Admitted Students Weekend, I would strongly recommend staying overnight if you can. If you request an overnight host, the Admissions Office will provide you with one. It’s a much better way to experience student life first hand.

D signed up for the event 18-19. Not sure if they replied with any specifics (she used her personal e-mail). Any idea what to expect? Do they run separate parent sessions? I wonder if there would be time to visit a coach in person. Thanks.

I attended the event last year, when this thread was created. Generally, students attend two classes based upon areas of interest they marked on their RSVPs. At this time, parents attend various lectures and talks. I also believe they serve lunch? I had time to visit my coach, although I emailed him ahead of time to make sure. There are also specialized tours around the campus, and you can pick and choose which ones you want to take. Pretty simple, I believe I was out by three. Enjoy Pomona!

Thanks! Very excited for the trip. Visiting Pomona first, then the other “finalist” Easter week. Two totally different schools, both a flight away. I am so looking forward to having her make a decision! Of course, there is a dreaded waitlist in the mix, but that is out of mind as much as possible.

Wishing you a great visit! My D has had a terrific freshman year - she loves Pomona so much that she’s become a volunteer tour guide, so you might run into her. If you’re hungry one morning, check out Some Crust in downtown Claremont for an “egg slider”. This is clearly a favorite local hangout, and I’ve started to visit every time I’m in Claremont.

I know the Northeast tugs at you, so please ignore the fact that the streets in Claremont are named after colleges in the Northeast  This really strikes my husband as pathetic. But I’m sure the founding fathers’ aspirations to be an academic mecca have been realized, so I’m willing to overlook this oddity!

Oh boy - I think I agree with your husband about the street names! Thanks for the Some Crust info. It’s going to snow here tonight on top of general grayness and bitter winds. Perfect timing for a MN kid to visit Pomona.
