Exactly as the question asks; are there any available statistics on the chance of being admitted to Dartmouth if one is Native American. I am looking for a raw admittance rate, like the general one, but for Native Americans.
I can’t find the exact breakout. There are 222 Native American students currently enrolled. They have the Native American fly in program that is considered one of the best.
They have an institutional commitment to reaching out to correct the years of underrepresentation at the College. This dates to a formal policy implemented in 1970. They also have a program in Native American studies.
Nor can I find any data – although I can for Harvard (1.9%) and Cornell (<1%) and Dartmouth ought to be just a bit embarrassed about that fact, no? Anyway, the Native American percentage of the student body has been +/- 4% for years, but admissions percentages are not something I was able to find. The best I can do is a post from Joe Asch’s blog [say what you will about Joe, he was always willing to talk about the College’s strengths and weaknesses and offer DATA to back up his opinions] from a few years back when the admissions rate for Native Americans was 3% for five years [2007-2011] running [http://www.dartblog.com/data/2013/02/010613.php]. If this number had increased significantly in recent years, one might think that the College would have said something.
