I'm completely confused. I got accepted to UCSD, rejected from UCD, and waitlisted from UCSB. Anybody know why this order of acceptance completely contradicts the UC rankings of difficulty? I thought it was harder to can into UCSD than UCD. And I thought that UCSB had a higher acceptance rate than the other two. Could anyone please explain this to me? I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm extremely happy and enthused to be admitted to UCSD, but I'm just wondering, why did I not get accepted to UCSB? This is just out of sheer curiosity as I am extremely baffled by my admittance to UCSD Sixth college. I didn't even think I'd get in.

here are my stats
GPA: 4.0 weighted
SAT: 2030
SAT II: 650 (math II) 690 (U.S. History)
ACT: 25

No, I am not trolling… My E.C.‘s are not out of the ordinary. I was captain of the girls’ varsity golf team for 2 years. Won honorable mention in an art competition. Volunteered over 150 hours at a hospital. Participated in the Piano Certificate of Merit competition for 8 levels. Treasurer of a Food Donation club. (Life) Member of CSF and NHS. My essay was not extremely great. I do have quite a lot of financial difficulties, but who doesn’t?
Does this mean I’m going to get rejected/waitlisted from UCI too?

I’m surprised that you didnt get into ucsc but ucsb is undetstandable haha congrats on ucsd! I think ucla might be tough but you have a go though

That happened to lots at my school (rejected from lower UCs). It seems as though the lower ones might reject outstanding students on the grounds that they feel that they will be accepted at higher universities anyway, so they don’t want to waste a spot on those who won’t take it.

ucsdveteran: Actually, I did get into ucsc :] Thx
engineerisme: Yeah, I was thinking that might be the case, but I don’t believe that geology was impacted in uc davis, and I don’t think biochemistry is impacted in ucsb either :.
niklas: I see, that makes sense. I was just really vying for davis, but it’s cool, haha ucsd is a definite plus
Thanks for the feedback guys :D!
