Admitted and full of questions.

Hi, so I am from California and was just admitted to the University of Washington but i’m still decided whether or not I want to go. I would be majoring in economics and hopefully receiving a masters in International Business. I have a lot of questions, and I would love if somebody could answer them. Here are the questions…

How good is the Economics program?
How would you recommend getting from class to class: bike, bus, etc?
What residence hall should I live in? West or North?
How is the atmosphere?
How is the food?
How often did you come home to see family?
Is Seattle similar to SF?
How are the people?
Is their football team good?
Are the classes small?

Thank you!

Congratulations on your acceptance! I’m sure ppls will chime in with helpful info but meanwhile you can gather many of the answers you’re looking for online , and also do a search for student reviews University of Washington etc.
Pacific Northwest weather can be lots of gray drizzle days, however we’ve just had one of the warmest winters ever ( sad for the skiers).
On clearer days the views of Mount Rainier will amaze you!

How good is the Economics program?
I don’t know

How would you recommend getting from class to class: bike, bus, etc?
Walk or bike

What residence hall should I live in? West or North?
Not sure

How is the atmosphere?
Very fun and social. There’s always something to do whether you’re on campus or in Seattle

How is the food?
Great! Lots of plaes to eat. Although it can get expensive

How often did you come home to see family?
I live in WA. Idk ):

Is Seattle similar to SF?
Yes and no. Seattle actually doesn’t get much more rain than SF. It’s just grayer. Seattle is MUCH MUCH MUCH cleaner. And a little smaller. I live part time in SF with my mom and I personally like Seattle WAY more.

How are the people?
Great (:

Is their football team good?
They used to be AMAZING. But we are slowly getting very good again!

Are the classes small?
When your first begin no… But once you’re in your major the classes become smaller. I think their website says the average class size is 50 students overall

Congrats on your acceptance! You’ll love Washington!

I’m a current first year student in the accounting program.

How good is the Economics program?

  • I’ve taken econ 200 and econ 201 and both my professors have been amazing

How would you recommend getting from class to class: bike, bus, etc?

  • I usually just walk, you would get places faster with a bike but not necessary

What residence hall should I live in? West or North?

  • I live in North Campus. West is more appealing to the eye but is also more expensive. I hear from a lot of people that North campus is more of the typical dorm experience, i.e. you get to know your neighbors better. I personally am happier that I live on North campus as opposed to West

How is the atmosphere?

  • Not really sure what you mean by atmosphere if you’re referring to classes, people, or just the school in general

How is the food?

  • I personally enjoy the campus dining but it can get tiring after a while. The Ave has a bunch of places to eat if you ever want to change it up

How often did you come home to see family?

  • I’m not from Washington so I only see my family over winter break

How are the people?

  • Can’t really generalize but the people I have met seem to be generally nice

Is their football team good?

  • No, not really
    Are the classes small?
  • It depends on what classes you sign up for. I personally hate lectures so I always opt for the smaller classes but even when you get lecture classes the quiz sections really help
