Has anyone been admitted as an anthro major to any UC? Post your gpa, where you got in and where you're still waiting to hear from. Oh, and congrats!

Anthropology majors are notoriously easy to get into. I’ve heard stories of 3.2 GPAs getting into Berkeley and UCLA. You shouldn’t have anything to worry about.

UCSC, 3.95. I’ve also got in Davis, SB, and Riverside so far, but with as a hodgepodge of majors: European studies, history, and classics.

Major: Sociocultural Anthropology (or some variation of it)

I’m an Anthro major, I got denied by both UCs I applied to.

@iggykins what schools did you apply to and what were your stats?

UCSC and UCSB.
I’m a transfer student, completed IGETC… and the honors program at my school and I have an overall gpa of 3.14.

ouch. sorry to hear that.

yeah iggykins that sux! did you talk to an admission counselor to find out the reason why they aren’t considering you competitive enough?
did you have the 60 units?

GPA 3.4 Tag to UCSB and UCSD IGETC completed Spring 2010

Admitted to UCSB and UCI. Still pending UCSD and UCLA

TAP, IGETC, pre-reqs done for both majors

Major Anthro
Applied to UCI, UCSC, UCSB, UCSD, UCLA, and Berkeley.
Accepted at UCI, UCSB, UCSD, but not UCSC.
UCLA and Berkeley still pending
GPA 3.33

My question to all us Anthro transfers would be…

…which is your school of choice? I know LA has. Great Anthro program and so does San Diego but Berkeley is just so legendary, as well as UCI…figured I’d ask the other Anthro majors. …

Edit: & a bunch of EC’s including teaching abroad, president of a few clubs and delivering babies during my free time…okay the last part wasn’t true.

Holidays: Berkeley, followed by UCSC. Of the ones you’ve been accepted to, I’d pick Santa Barbara.

My school of choice? Well, although their anthropology dept’s rank in this order: Berkeley, UCLA, UCSB, UCSD…

My personal preference is UCLA, Berkeley, UCSD, UCSB. I know I can’t go wrong with any school, so I’m picking a place where I know that I’ll be happy while studying something I love.

Any particular reason why? Just askin’ here.

UCLA has been my dream schools ever since I was a wee lad! (5th grade ;))
I love the campus environment, the school spirit, I’d be moving back home (from San Diego to LA,) amazing academics… everything I want in a school is at UCLA.

@evan exactly man. I know the rankings aren’t exactly in UCD’s favor, but I’d still go there over SB.

Oh ya forgot to answer the post. I’m in at UCI, UCD, UCSB +eops! all for anthro.
My GPA is 3.80, with no tags for any of them, Good ecs

yeah +1 for what Evan said.
Evan ftw.
