Did you guys complete all the prereqs including calc and stats?

I did Stats, but I didn’t do Calc, I"m taking precalc this semester.

I did stats as well, no calc for cultural.

Stats for the win. I’m never touching any mathematics again.

Isn’t that just the best? I loathe mathematics.

Haha, my math is the reason I didn’t get into the UCs apparently. I have a documented math disability… I got a D in algebra II but my adviser spoke to our disabled students services and got my adviser there to clear me for Math 105… so I’m assuming the UCs were like, oh hey she didn’t pass algebra II, probably won’t pass 105 either, denied.

Buncha crap, but I have a B in 105 right now, so I’m really *** about the whole thing.

@iggy

Thats so weird dude; I’ve done horrible with Math at my CCC and got a D in my Math 80 course; yet my advisor cleared me as well to a Math 100+ course and yet got in to some UC’s, UCLA the latest…

But admittedly this current math course is kicking me in the @ss.

Any more? This have to be at least some from UCLA

Yeah, UCLA accepted anthropology major. woot.

I got accepted into UCLA as an Anthropology major with a 3.41. It was my alternate major actually. I didn’t get into my first choice

Yup UCLA Anthro for moi also.

Tiatot, it was my alternate too, and I was really bummed at first. But then I remembered how awesome Anthro will be at UCLA, so it’s allll good.

Don’t forget to put down stats, guys

Major: Anthropology
Applied: UCD, UCSB, UCLA, Berkeley
Accepted: UCD, UCSB, UCLA!!!
Pending: Berkeley
GPA: 3.733
UCLA TAP: No
EC’s: Part time work

I almost don’t feel like waiting for Berkeley. I just want to submit my SIR now. I might as well considering I’m going to UCLA even if I get into Berkeley. I’m still so stoked right now and its been two days.

Major: Anthropology
Applied: Davis, UCSD, UCLA, Berkeley
Accepted: Davis, UCSD, UCLA
Pending: Berkeley
GPA: 3.70
TAP: No
EC’S: Full-time work schedule for nearly 5 yrs during CC, volunteering, study abroad, academic achievement award in English from dept, strong application essays!

I’m a little older (I’ll be 24 when I transfer) and I’m a bit nervous about being with lots of younger folks. I get along with just about everyone, but when I studied abroad a few years ago I had a really hard time with the teeny boppers who just wanted to stay in and play beer pong EVERY NIGHT! Nevertheless, the size of the schools makes me think I’ll find my niche.

I’M DYING TO GET INTO BERKELEY!!! I can’t tell anyone I know how much I want it because I’m obviously nervous I won’t get in. I’m feeling pretty confident since I got accepted into UCLA, but I don’t want to jinx myself.

Can anyone give me any feedback about my stats and the chances of being accepted to UCB w/ an Anthro major??

Any help here?

I’m an anthro major, transferring from a community college. UCLA rejected me even though I was TAG/IGETC. I called and asked why today, and they said my GPA was too low at 3.23. Has this happened to anybody else? Does anybody have an explanation? I thought that 3.0 was the cutoff.

Even with TAG, a 3.23 is extremely low. Did you apply to any other UCs?

Anthropology
Applied to UCLA
Accepted at UCLA
GPA 3.75
Pre-reqs, IGETC

Hadrian, I did. I’m still waiting to hear back. I thought it was 3.00 and over for TAG? I get conflicting information, so perhaps it’s just UCSD that takes GPAs that low.

Speaking of my GPA, I’m terribly annoyed with myself about it. I screwed myself when I was younger and kind of depressed, just stopped going to classes instead of withdrawing from them. I managed to petition some away, but there were a few semesters of Fs in there. Super dumb.

My understanding (I never did any TAP/TAG stuff) is that they increase your chances as long as you maintain a 3.0, but aren’t in any way an assurance that you’ll get in. So, with TAG and a 3.2, your chances are higher than a 3.2 without TAG (perhaps about equivalent to a 3.4 or 3.5 without TAG), but unless you’re hovering around 3.7 (maybe 3.5 with TAG), your chances for UCLA aren’t good. Keep in mind, also, that anthro’s a highly selective major. I don’t know the numbers for UCLA, but anthro has an 18% acceptance rate at Berkeley, and I’d imagine UCLA’s is similar.

What schools are you waiting on? Even missing out on UCLA, it’s by no means the end of the world - the rest of the UC system is still great. With a 3.23, your chances for UCSC and UCSB (both nice schools for humanities/social sciences) should be pretty good.
