<p>If your kid is offered admission to a school that appeals to him or her, but said kid want to defer going for a year while they work, most college reps that we spoke to said they didn't have a problem with that. What they didn't say was what would happen if your kid changes his/her mind after working and wants to apply elsewhere.</p>
<p>Are there serious financial consequences associated with turning down an offer after its been accepted and deferred? (Is it a few hundred dollars or a semester's tuition?) Other consequences we should know about ahead of time?</p>
