The Vandy Admissions Blog

Christ, I am so screwed.

No…

If this is true, Vandy’s should really bounce up on the next USNews rankings.

Which are kind of sketchy (Why is Rice so low?), but, nevertheless, not a completely useless thing to look at.

The Native American’s are up 33%. That’s impressive. I bet it only took a handful of them to raise it up that much. Lol.

wow, those are some impressive statistics

They really are… kudos to Vandy.

Wow. They actually didn’t chance much from last year. The ACT range stayed the same and the SAT only rose 20 points for each end of the 25-75 percentile bracket.

Okay. So 19,350 x .189 = 3657. Subtract maybe 500 for ED and you get 3157 out of around 17,800 remaining applicants. So around 17.7% rate for ED.

That may be wrong since I just woke up, but it’s the best I can do right now.

For some perspective, my entering class (2007) had an admit rate of about 40%. The seniors when I was a freshman (Class of 2004) had an admit rate of over 60%.

Well, there went my chances of being accepted.

As I read that I grew depressed because now I know that there’s no way I’m getting into Vanderbilt. I’m also pretty sure I’m getting rejected from BC because of this tab thing online so this week has been horrible for me. I’m basically positive I’m ending up at Penn State now. I wish I would have applied to more schools.

I got denied by Duke and accepted by Wash U, waiting on Vandy…

I notice an astonishing progression of upward statistics for Vandy! If you look at USNews’ statistics in their most recent college report (Fall 2007 Acceptances), Vanderbilt has gone from a 33% acceptance rate to the present 19%! Additionally, and far more telling is their SAT numbers (25-75%) went from 1300-1480 in 2007 to 1400-1560 this year. Those are essentially Ivy League caliber numbers (Harvard in 2007 was 1400-1590, Princeton was 1390-1580, Duke was 1340-1540 etc…)

THIS IS THE RD ACCEPTANCE RATE CHILDREN! The accepted 20% of the RD applicants. Jesus Christ.

actually I’m pretty positive that it’s the admit rate for the entire class of 2013 (ED and RD combined) so RD would be a little bit lower, probably around 17%

dsr, read my math post #7. I got the same number.

I would be stressing now, since I have been for months. But all my friends are getting waitlisted at their top schools, so I’m expecting that too. It’s hard to see everyone’s heart break.

What percentage of students with scores in that range do you believe were admitted?

well its the middle 50% of scores. its pretty self explanatory

Not what I said or meant. I meant out of all the applicants with scores in the posted ranges, what percentage do you actually believe was admitted?

…officially have lost all hope. -not top 10%-

@ucbearcats10991: The “Middle 50%” usually refers to the middle 50% of those admitted, not total applicants.
