Admitted EA but getting request for midyear grades (plus weird CC notice)

Hi,

I was accepted EA for Fall of 2015. As I understand it, this means I shouldn’t be getting a request for midyear grades but I just did. In addition, a notice appeared under my fin aid checklist: UNIVERSITY ADMITTED STATUS: You have not yet been admitted to the University for the period for which you wish to receive aid. We cannot process your application for aid until you have been admitted. Please let us know when your admission has been confirmed.

I’ve already emailed admissions and FinAid office but I’m wondering if anyone else is in the same boat/knows what this might mean.

Thanks

DD has been accepted EA as well, but has not clicked the “accept” button. She also received the notice today to submit mid-year grades. Here was a sentence from the email:

“As a reminder, all second-deadline candidates are required to submit their first-semester or first-trimester grades using this form, as are all first-deadline candidates who have been admitted or deferred.”

So that should make you feel a little better. I don’t know if she received the other part that you mentioned about not being admitted yet. Did you accept their admissions offer yet? Perhaps that is what it is referring.

Can someone answer this? I was under the impression that accepted students would not have to report grades.

The second paragraph of trusting’s post contains the answer. …“as are all first -deadline candidates who have been ADMITTED or deferred.”

It’s fairly common for schools to ask for midterm and final grades for admitted students – they want to know that you will continue to take your studies seriously. Right in the acceptance letter, it says, “We require that you continue to achieve at the level that enabled us to offer you admission; we also require that you graduate on time. Please arrange to have your final end-of-year transcript sent to us as soon as it becomes available.” What they are requesting for midterms is a much more informal process, quickly and easily accomplished.
