I was admitted to Maryland for spring semester (I'm truly shocked, I didn't think I would get in at all LOL!) and I'm seriously considering doing Freshman Connection. If anyone else is considering it or has experienced it, do you mind sharing? I'm concerned with the housing and the distance it would be from the campus? Are the apartment complexes (the View, Varsity, etc) close to campus or is it a good 10 minutes away? I'm mostly concerned because I still want to feel like I'm part of the campus, and I'm concerned about safety (is it a dangerous area?) Thanks for reading and congrats everyone who got admitted :)

Hello. What were you’re statistics to get admission into Spring semester ? Such as SATs/ACT, APs and GPA. I am curious to know what are the requirements. Thanks

@onesmartkid:
GPA: 3.5 UW, 3.8 W
25 ACT
7 AP classes altogether, 5 I’m taking senior year
I’m not completely sure why I got in at all, but I think my essays and my senior course load might’ve helped a little.

Thanks for the feedback. I read about the freshman connection. You basically are able to take fall semester courses just at certain hours and you are also not permitted to live on campus. An apartment is offered to you basically which makes the commute a little annoying.I think you should definitely think of attending since UMCP is a very well recognized school and since you were qualified for such an offer with a 25 ACT( not the worst or best), placing yourself into the school is something you should take advantage of. I’ve spoken to people who have been deferred with 1850+ SATs

Hey! I was admitted to spring semester as well and I’m considering doing the Freshman Connection program as well. I found this fb group for UMD Class of 2017, and there are a couple of other people asking about FC on the group so it might help to hear about it from them and from the student who organized the group.
Here is the link:

i’m doing freshman connection. from what i’ve heard from people who have done it, there is virtually no difference besides taking classes later in the day (3-8) you live in apartments that are technically off campus, but theyre right at the edge and the busses go to them. A friend of mine who attends says that most of her friends are in freshman connection even though she isn’t. everyone meshes together.
