I got into UT at the COLA, major in Econ. I just don't know if I should go. I live in Houston with my parents and we moved here 2 years ago after HS (from CA). What daunts me is that its a big school and I honestly don't know anyone there!!!!!! And to be frank I only know a few people here in Houston either (pathetic right?)

I need some suggestions. Should I stay in Houston and go to U of H or go to UT and take a chance?

They are both big schools and you admit you don't really know people in either place. UT is a much more highly regarded school academically so I would go with UT. I'm biased of course because I'm at UT myself right now. The school is big but it doesn't seem quite as big after a while. I run into people I know on campus all the time. There are plenty of ways to meet people and get involved.

Part of going to college is to meet a bunch of new people. I'm sure you're not the only one who will be in the same situation as you on the UT campus. What makes UT great is there are a great variety of people for you to meet that it makes it hard for students not to fit in. If I were you, I'd choose UT-Austin because it's a very respectable school across the country. And once you're there, it's your duty to put yourself out there as much as possible to meet new people and make a bunch of great friends. That's what makes college such a great experience. Best of luck to you!
