Hi. My son was admitted into the N.U.in program as well. He had not thought that NU was his top choice, but his father and I were always very supportive of NU b/c of the co-op program and are delighted! He will be accepting - the only negative is possibly losing our deposit if he gets an offer from his top choice school - waitlisted
With the current ridiculous # of applicants, it is obvious that only so many students can be offered admission through the ātraditionalā route. Many very qualified students are denied due to some quirk of the admission process. I donāt think its insulting to be offered admission into N.U.in - its an amazing opportunity and you will earn transferable credit, as well as have an incredible experience. It makes sense to offer spots to students in the Spring, since many spots open up with transfers, dropouts and co-op students leaving campus. It is certainly better than being rejected or waitlisted. Waitlisting is a slow form of torture. It is unfortunate if you are dependent on financial aide, since study abroad programs do not allow it. Also, know that they do not offer admission into N.U.in unless they think you can handle it - maybe you have travelled, or expressed interest in study abroad, or in some other way implied that you are more mature than the average incoming freshman. If not, you certainly will be when you start in January!!
Hello! I was accepted to NU.in last year and just got to campus this spring. I went to Australia and loved it! It was a nice transition to university to life. The classes were more laid back and we were able to complete volunteer services through the school which will help later on for our resumes. It definitely made us make stronger bonds within our friend group since we were all in it together. Transitioning back wasnāt as bad as I thought. Iām currently living in East Village which is their newest dorm building and it is amazing. Classes arenāt terrible challenging, but be prepared to spend 4-5 hours in the library each day if you want a 4.0. If you guys have any questions at all, reply to this and Iāll give you my email.

Sorry for the late response-- thanks @pgibb6796, I recently committed to the program and have a couple of questions:
how much would you say you spent per week in Australia (for food, living costs)?
how was the social life there? I heard there are many NUin program students who drink alcohol quite a lot while abroad and I am wondering if that was the case for you, or if you met many other students who were not a part of that crowd?
I would love to continue talking to you through email
thanks again for offering the advice!
A bump for the ED decisions!
Hello everyone!
