Admitted Major Change

I was admitted into UCSB under my second choice of "Pre-Biology", my first choice was chemical engineering. What is the best way to gain admission back into the chemical engineering program? Should I send an email to reapply or change my major to "Pre-Chem" and wait till Spring Quarter next year to get back into the engineering dept?

Thanks a Ton!

I hope you get in ! I was admitted into ChemEngineering at SB! But I can’t attend ! Hopefully you can put my spot into a bright future .

See the info at <a href=“UC Santa Barbara Admissions Portal - UC Santa Barbara Applicant Portal Login”>UC Santa Barbara Admissions Portal - UC Santa Barbara Applicant Portal Login; Otherwise you need to follow the rules at http://engineering.ucsb.edu/prospective_undergraduates/changing_your_major

My advice is to apply now since there is seemingly nothing to lose. If they say no, you can always apply after you’ve finished the requirements shown on the 2nd web page I listed (so far as I know; you should call and verify this!!!). On the other hand if you have a bit of a rough start at UCSB and they don’t let you change, you’ll be kicking yourself for not trying before the start of frosh year.
