Admitted Nursing Student Visit

My D attended today’s admitted nursing student visit. This was a session dedicated to showcasing the nursing program and its facilities to students admitted to F2018. There’s one other session offered in April if you couldn’t make this one. I haven’t had a chance to speak to my D to get her feedback. She logs thorough entries in her journal as she tours select schools where’s been accepted for nursing. She sent a brief update that she loves the city and the campus is beautiful but has concerns that the program doesn’t offer enough time to do extras such as Study Abroad. I’ll try to post more later but I’m curious if anyone else here attended. And if so what were your impressions?

My D said there were about 20 students in her group and at least one student was weighing offers from many of the same west coast schools (Seattle U, U of Portland, Gonzaga). My D liked the time in the Nursing simulation lab. She got to check the pulse of a dummy. And of course the campus and surrounding city are breath taking. But hearing first hand the high cost of attendance ($68,000/year) was eye opening for her. She did receive $25k/yr merit but it’s still far too expensive compared to others on her list. It just doesn’t make financial sense to warrant further consideration. Not being able to do Study Abroad was another big negative and big difference from other schools she’s already visited. While she loved her visit, this one is not for her.
