I was accepted to UMD for Fall 2008 and the site read:

"Congratulations!

You have been admitted to the University of Maryland for the Fall 2008 semester!

We are pleased to welcome you to one of the nation's finest research universities."

*********Does this mean I was accepted to my first choice major - which is business?

Would they have told me otherwise if they had to accept me as my second choice (undecided)?

Wondering the same thing (but Journalism).

i got my letter and it stated on the top which college (smith bschool) i was specifically accepted into..

I am almost positive business is not a limited enrollment major at Maryland, so I would bank on you getting your major, 99% sure. =)

Congratulations, best of luck to everyone!

i am a student at umd and i can tell you with 100% confidence that business is limited enrollment along with engineering, architecture, journalism, government education and a few others that i don't remember. this does not mean that you were not accepted into business. that i do not know... just thought id clarify.

S recevied the same packet today. The second page was the Maryland Planner, which has his personal information and the academic program (government and politics) at the top right of the page.
