Admitted Spring 2019

What are Spring 2019 admitted freshman planning to do during the Fall? Is anyone considering the Prague Connection study abroad program?

My daughter is interested in the Prague as well. She’s in CALS for spring 2019 . Were also looking into the dorms.

First of all, congrats to any Spring 2019 admits! You are officially a part of the wolfpack team! Are any of your children planning to go on to Raleigh in the fall and take classes at Wake Tech? My daughter is planning to do that and live at University Towers. She is looking for a roomate. She will likely be getting a part time job as well.

My D has decided to intern and work at her current animal hospital job for the fall.

Now just trying to find a roommate this early in the game.

jsj135 have you all thought of dorms yet? Looks like both of our daughters are starting the same time

That will look good on her resume! From previous experience with a friend’s daughter this year that did spring connection, they were placed where there was open rooms where people had graduated or flunked out. Basically, she was told they place you where they have a bed (not necessarily an entire room). Only certain people will be moving out mid-year. I have a senior at NCSU now and some of her sorority sisters pledged in the spring this year that started this January with spring connection. Also, NCSU committed to too many students last year, so they had to do a master lease with university towers and offer some of those students rooms over there. I was at UT yesterday and so far NCSU did not renew that lease. They cut the number of enrolled freshman down by over 250 to prevent this again this year (posted on NCSU websites). Just thought I would share about what I knew from this year. Good luck to your daughter. So glad they are all accepted. It really has gotten so competitive.

Packmom22 thank you for the good info! This is all new, so I’m flying blind…at least I feel like I am:)
So, basically it’ll be wherever a warm bed is…and that’s what I was afraid of with the spring connection.

Any other suggestions?

You are certainly welcome, but I am no expert, just know several that started in it this year and as I said have a senior at NCSU now. It is very possible and likely that they still may have to go out and rent floors from University Towers again if they overadmitted. Everyone from our community got spring admit that we have spoken with. On the other hand, if less accept and don’t pay by May1st then they will admit kids from the waitlist which would also fill up the NCSU dorms and unused space. Who knows where they will get the rooms. If they rent out mass space at UT then students that chose that will be allowed to match up room mates (at least that’s how it worked this year bc it is suite style rooms with a bath in between). Good luck with everything. We are just thrilled she got in for spring connection.

Momof2022, I had the same concern with the dorm assignments for Spring 2019 students. I have heard the same thing that they place students where there are openings. I plan to ask that question at the April 6 Experience State day for admitted students. My daughter would like to stay in one of the three towers that are in central campus. My daughter was also accepted into CALS Animal Science. She is a little nervous about starting late and meeting friends. Does anyone know if NCSU incorporates Spring students into Fall activities. This seems to be common with other schools.

Jsj135 exactly! My daughter’s the same way. She’s actually connecting with the newly admitted on Instagram since she doesn’t have a Facebook. But she’s having trouble connecting with the se pring enrollees.

If your daughter has Instagram, let me know if she’d be interested and we can get our daughters to chat further.

Hi everyone! My name is Brooke and I was also admitted into CALS for Animal Science in Spring 2019. I am super excited to be accepted into State in general (especially the Animal Science program). However, I am nervous because it doesn’t seem like state is including the spring connection students in as much as the Fall admitted ones. I have been trying to get in touch with other newly admitted students to chat as well but, it doesn’t seem like there are many spring admitted students for me to get in touch with. I have an instagram and I would definitely be interested in chatting with your daughters if they would like too. I just think that it would be very nice to talk to someone who is in the same boat as me and maybe we can figure out rooming assignments, etc… together! Anyways, if you are interested, my instagram is @brookiejordie.

@brookiejordie, I will have my daughter get in touch with you via instagram. She has had a hard time connecting with people also. Momof2022, maybe your daughter can connect also.

Hi Spring Connect people & congrats! As I was reading over your posts I had a thought. If your student is wanting to be able to join in on some of the activities at State for the fall & meet other students, they should check out Cru at NCSU. It is a Christian group that has weekly worship meetings and fun social activities like a Barn dance and Spring Formal. It is a big group too! Students come from State, Meredith & Wake Tech. I am sure your students would be welcomed and could make friends that way. They alternate weekly meetings between State and various area church locations - you just have to watch social media (instagram) for the next meeting place announcement. They just had a giant group go to Destin, FL for spring break. It is a wonderful group that keeps the students connected & challenges their faith.

My daughter has also been accepted for Spring Connections 2019 . She’s now deciding between fall admission to Appalachian State (where she has been awarded an academic excellence scholarship) and NC State. Yesterday she attended the (April 6) Admitted Students Day - Experience NC State and thought it was great.

This will be a tough decision for her. She has said that she “would definitely attend State, if (she) were admitted for fall.” As a parent, My biggest concern is not knowing her living arrangement in Spring.

I do think the Prague experience would be terrific, but she is unsure.

I would love to connect with any of you, to hear your thoughts and share your plans.

All in all, it’s an exciting time. Congrats to all students (and parents) for your success in being offered admission.

Thank you.

My D is interested in Prague. She is in CHASS for Spring 2018. We received her acceptance letter for the Prague Connection on May 3rd. At admitted students’ day, the faculty advised that Spring Connection students were on the waitlist for fall. We are currently waiting for the waitlist results to be released, but she has to accept her slot before next Friday. Does anyone know if the waitlist decisions were released? I would like to know if decisions were made before I commit to her to Prague and pay the deposit.

I just realized I wrote 2018 instead of Spring 2019! Thanks

@NCSUMOM22 We just found out today that my son did not get accepted off the waiting list. The letter from State is dated May 10, but we just noticed it today in the Wolfpaw account. I am not sure when it got posted. It wasn’t there last week. At long last the waiting is over. He applied on October 15 and got deferred and then waitlisted. He is going to attend UNC- Charlotte in the fall. We are still shocked about State because he got accepted at Tulane University, which is highly selective.
