I want to visit Stony Brook for a campus visit…Does anyone know what goes on and the difference between a guided campus tour and Admitted Students Day on April 8th or 9th? Should I go to both or choose one? I see that April 9th is the date for students admitted to CEAS and my D got accepted to CS so maybe that would be better if they go more in depth regarding the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences…
@borgdoctor my son (class of 16) went on the guided tour. It gives you a nice feel for the campus. They tour you in small groups and they also had general presentations about the university. He did not do the admitted student day but you would probably get the same type of thing with the added benefit of meeting with representatives from the department your major is in.
We split it into two days so that all the engineering stuff is on Sunday. If you’re interested in engineering, definitely point to that day, because none of the CEAS faculty/staff will be there on Saturday.

You got accepted? with a D? and here I am waiting with a 4.0 highschool gpa and 3.3 undergraduate gpa to transfer to stony. and nothing less than a B-. still waiting for my admission decision. what is wrong with stony brook?
@SBUTransferapp - the letter D is “daughter”, not the grade D. just FYI
@SBUTransferapp you sound angry…the D is shorthand for “daughter”…she’s actually one of the top students in her high school…all A’s…she turned down a lot of presitigious colleges to go to Stony Brook’s Computer Science program. You should call the school directly to find out your status instead of posting on the forum.
