Admitted Student Days

I am on the fence about spending the money to go in April. My son has visited the campus multiple times (football games and one campus tour) and has already decided to attend in the fall. Also, I am thinking we should wait to see if he is invited for the Reilly weekend (I realize this is a long shot).

Can anyone with the experience share thoughts about this? Thank you!

@WineLOver Personal opinion based on our experience: under the scenario you describe, it should be sufficient and much more interesting to attend Welcome Weekend in August, together as a family. We attended both when our DD, now a Sophomore, started and found Welcome Weekend in August so much more interesting and involving.

If he is not on the fence then I don’t think it’s worth the trip. Older D wasn’t quite sure so we went (we are in Midwest so not a huge undertaking to go) and it sealed the deal for her. I do think you will enjoy Welcome Weekend. They do a really good job at that I think.

@suzy100 and @hpcsa thank you for your insights. We are definitely planning to attend the Welcome Weekend and look forward to that. We discussed with our son, and we will just hold off until then. It is quite a journey for us, so big expense to go out there. Thanks again!

@WineLover Your are very welcome. Given his ND commitment and your support in attending the university, your son won’t be missing out on anything - the focus of all Admitted Student Day events at all universities/colleges is on convincing undecided students and/or those who haven’t had the chance to visit campus, that this is the place where she/he would like to spend the next 4 years of their life at. The ND Reilly Spring Visit Program is different and would be interesting for your son to attend if the opportunity should occur, yet in any event you and your son will enjoy the Welcome Weekend and related ND on-campus events in August. You might want to make hotel reservations early!

Nope. Would only do it if they are on the fence. Also he’s been here before so I wouldn’t recommend it
