My son signed up for the admitted student open house in March. We know is that this is a 2-day event with an overnight, and that the schedule will be emailed about a week before. Do we need to ask ahead of time if there are specific departments/programs/extracurricular activities that he wants to make sure to see? Or does that happen once he gets there?

Also, are there sessions for the families both days, or do we have time to be tourists?

We went last year to one in April. The year has all been a blur since then. Ha ha, but as I recall the sessions are just repeated and you go to the ones that interest you in the slots available. Their sessions are very informative and I walked away with information overload. We did take some of that time to skip a session and just walk and explore at our leisure. I don’t recall having to make any special arrangements before hand for scheduling, I think the only exception would be if your son needs to meet with a athletic coach. I believe he can also visit classes but I think that is scheduled when you either receive the material or upon arrival. All of the departments/programs/extracurricular activities are well covered in the sessions. Someone else may come along that could add to my weak memory.

You can sight see too but I would suggest you add a day to your visit or you will have to skip some sessions to do it.
