I'm going to Chicago this Thursday for the admitted student overnight (so incredibly excited!) but I was wondering if anyone who is going either this Thursday or went last week got any more information about their host or a schedule of events? Any information would be helpful!

Not a student here, but I just returned with my S from the first Admitted Students session held yesterday/day before so I can give some info. You should receive an email on Tuesday (S received his last Tuesday) with a finalized schedule of events and other information for your use. Your overnight host’s name will be included in the packet of info you’ll get when you arrive on campus on Thursday and you will meet up around 4 o’clock Thursday afternoon to continue with your evening and overnight. I hope this helps. If you would like to see a tentative schedule before you get your email in a couple of days, go to the admitted students portal and you will see one there. If you have any other of these logistical questions, post them here or feel free to PM me. Hopefully some prospies will chime in to tell you more of their impressions.

I was also there, with my nephew and sister and b-in-law. The final schedule should be similar to the tentative one posted, and is probably like the one we just had. It is jam-packed with events, panels and tours covering every aspect of the university. We especially liked the historical tour and Steven Levitt lecture, but really everything was informative and worthwhile (except I have to admit I didn’t understand much of the global warming lecture). After the dean’s welcome and student panel Thursday afternoon, the students were whisked away to meet their hosts and have overnight events of their own (my nephew’s included dinner, giant capture the flag game, activities fair, museum party, night campus tour, and movie night in his house). He was tired but happy when we met up again the next morning. He was accepted early and already sent in his deposit, but this weekend confirmed that Chicago is the right place for him.
