Admitted Student Preview Days

Hey guys,

Recently received the invitiation to the Admitted Student Preview Days. Who of you fellow cc's are planning on going?!

We'll be there (Sunday).

I'll be there Saturday :]

My daughter is a student ambassador at Santa Clara. She will be there both days! Have a great time.

Thanks Thumper. D will be doing SADIE too. Will probably check out Pepperdine the Saturday that falls between. Has anybody compared these two?

Shrinkrap....we were at both Pepperdine and SCU. DD is at SCU so our opinions are a bit biased. Pepperdine has arguably the most gorgeous college campus in the country with every building having a gorgeous view of the Pacific Ocean. It's truthfully breathtaking. Pepperdine is a Christian school and SCU a Jesuit school. DD found the religion aspect of SCU to be much more ecumenical than that at Pepperdine. Both schools offer excellent educations. Pepperdine is located in Malibu, and truthfully, there is nothing in Malibu except the beach and a couple of pizza places. There is no public transportation to get anywhere. That issue affected DD's choices as SCU has more in the towns of Santa Clara and San Jose, and there is public transportation (it's not like the T in Boston, but it's there and very usable). DD did not apply to Pepperdine after our initial visit.

Honestly, education wise, I think both schools are excellent, but they have very different "personalities" in my daughter's opinion...and in mine as well.

Thanks again!

By the way...if you are planning to attend Admitted Student Preview Days..you want to sign up ASAP. Those days fill up rapidly.

I'm still not sure if I'm trekking the whole family out for either day.. would it be better to wait for the July days or are those days so different from each other that we should do both?

The July days are orientation, aren't they? The Preview Days (if I'm not mistaken) are for students who want to take a last look before making a final college choice. If your child is definitely going to SCU...and knows that already, then go to orientation and call it a day. If they aren't sure, the Preview Days are a good way to see.

As I recall, my daughter did an accepted student visit that actually included an overnight. Since she was going so far from home, we insisted that she spend the night on the campuses she was considering.

i am going on sunday
i tried to sign up for the overnight program, but it was already full by the time i got my letter in the mail :(

I'm attending the preview day on Saturday (April 12th). RSVPed yesterday. Pretty excited :] Does anyone know if it will be worthwhile to stay for the lunch and resource fair? ...what exactly would be there?

I'm staying for both i believe, i also tried to sign up for the overnight program but it is full!

Hi I'm an international student and I still haven't recieved anything from SCU. Is this possibly a rejection? and I was also wondering if you guys recieved your decisions via snail mail... please let me know!

Madeline, I received mine by snail mail. It seems they are still sending acceptances out - several came out the end of last week, so yours is probably on its way! You are probably already checking your application status on eCampus, but just in case, here is the site: https://www.scu.edu/ugrad/apply/checkstatus/index.cfm
Several people posted that tabs for financial aid and orientation and stuff appeared when they were accepted. Good luck!

Just wondering how you all liked Preview days? I just spoke to my daughter who was one of the Student Ambassadors who worked the days. She said there were a ton of students and the days went very well...but that it was unseasonably HOT!!

Hope you all had a terrific time there....and of course, I'm lobbying for you to choose SCU...like DD did!!

i loved it and so did all my friends. Many of whom were leaning toward UC's or other really good privates are now leaning toward SCU. I commited right when i got home!

Congratulations Stripes. I hope you love it there as much as my daughter does!!
