Admitted student weekend

I assume that Grinnell has an admitted student visit program - have the dates for this been published?

April 7, 2006
April 14, 2006
April 21, 2006

Thanks for the dates!

i think i will be going to the april 7th one...anyone else know when they willb be attending?

I also think i'm going to the april 7th one

If you have not seen the campus with students, you are making a big mistake about attending.

I went my junior year in August. Like true love, the impression hits you immediately and without any notice. You either love it or hate it. There really is no 'tween.

If anyone is admitted and does NOT see the school before making the decision, all I can say is that is unfortunate.

I love this school, but I will admit it is not for everyone. For instance, if you are considering Washington and Lee and Grinnell, you are either schizo or making a big mistake. Both are great schools, but they have very little in common in relation to the student environment.

Haha...i was considering Washington and Lee at one point... I'm not sure I like the Greek scene thing there, though...

I think I'm going April 7th as well!

I'm going April 14th - anyone else?

I'm going on the 14th as well. Maybe I'll see you there necoon!

I live outside the US and I don't think I can go to the program
so.... what should i do, father? (of the broader)

i was planning on attending the april 7th weekend, but i was wondering how important you think it is to attend one of these "get togethers"

i got accepted EDI, so i am attending no matter what. I have not visited the campus yet, but if i dont go april 7 (i do not want to miss 3 days of school and drive 12 hours each way if it will not be worthwhile) i will definately visit at some point during the summer....

so how important is it that i attend? (thanks for the input)

I do not know how "out of the country" you are -- are you the child of expatriots or a first in the USA? But, I can tel you this: Most Americans know as much about Iowa as they do about Eastern European capitals. In short, unless you have been there, you probably will know little about there -- whether you are a continental US resident or someone across the pond.

I think it is funny that your blog name is Drink More Water as the water in Iowa in famously bad tasting.

If you go, go by golly. You may just get the bug and love the civility and truly honest nature of the people of Iowa and the complex simplicity in which they live.

I know your parents may not want to read this or know other parents write these things, but the "propsective student" weekends -- like that you are going to -- are parties. Maybe . . . maybe . . . even some things may go on which make you feel less stressed and more relaxed. That is how "it" (the social scene) works in college -- plain and simple -- whether you go to a northern school, or eastern school, or western school, or basically anywhere but the military academies or Brigham Young.
Go. You may enjoy yourself.

Have any of you seen this new (I think) thing that Grinnell is doing? Grinnell students talking about life at Grinnell. It looks like it might be a bi-weekly thing, they've got the mp3 files on their website. This week is about visiting campus and what you shoudl do while you're there. Here's the link - http://www.grinnell.edu/admission/studentvoices.
