Admitted Student Weekend?

anyone planning on going?

is it more for kids who are trying to decide between stanford and some other school, or is it geared toward kids who already know theyre definitely going to SU?

Right here.

Congrats :)

Admit weekend is for both those still deciding as well as those who have already accepted their admissions offer. My daughter was accepted last year to Stanford, and my wife, daughter and I attended admit weekend. It was great for both parents and students. My daughter had already accepted her offer in January (she was admitted EA), and we knew we were extremely excited to have her going to SU. However, at Admit Weekend, we learned even more about why we REALLY wanted her going to Stanford (i.e., how they do a fantastic job of helping to ensure students’ success, etc.).

For my daughter, it was an incredible opportunity to meet some of her future classmates. Within 5 minutes of checking in, she met another ProFro (Prospective Frosh) who is now her very best friend and will end up being her roommate next year.

So, I highly recommend you attend AW if at all possible - there’s little to lose and much to gain.

My parents and I were discussing whether they should attend admit weekend as well. Were there more students with parents than without?

yeah, can someone who has attended in past years explain a little more about the parent’s role at admit weekend, it’s a little unclear in everything we have. are they expected to stay? are they invited to the sessions? should they stay in palo alto, or drop me off and spend the weekend with friends in san francisco?

Parents are definitely encouraged to attend Admit Weekend, and there are information sessions and activities offered for parents on each day. Parents can certainly pick and choose from among the menu of activities, and have plenty of time to also go off on their own to explore the surrounding areas, visit friends in SF, etc.

I received a travel grant, but I will most likely not be attending, unfortunately.

Due to conflicts I will only be staying Thursday night. Still super excited though :)

im going
though you guys know anything about fin aid info? i logged into my SUNet ID and was directed to some STARS thing…no fin aid…

TJITM, some of our Axess accounts were “downgraded.” They will be updated soon. I spoke to an admissions director (as a QB Match, I was suddenly unable to use Axess about three weeks ago) and she said that all accounts should be updated just after April first.

I was directed to that as well.

I’ll be there. Can only stay for Thursday night also. Still, sounds awesome. I look forward to seeing you all.
