Wow @BrewCrew82 those are VERY different. D2’s projections are UW-Madison 30% and Parchment 43%. One thing I noticed on Parchment is that they overstate the general acceptance rate - it’s 49% not 67% (although it certainly is around 67% for WI residents and actually for MN residents last year it was only 43%). I think Parchment overstates her chances for those reasons. On the other hand, Admitster understates because UW-Madison requires rec. letters and essay which aren’t captured in the Admitster projections and she can really shine with those supplemental materials. But I don’t know WHAT to say about your son’s results. Very weird.
Oh - one thing I noticed on Admitster - I accidentally clicked on University of Wisconsin Colleges - Madison. (Rather than University of Wisconsin - Madison). Pretty confusing but D2’s projection for that was like 75%! I looked up the difference between these two campuses and the “Colleges” is actually the two year associate degree program for the UW system. Not the main Madison 4 year campus. I’m guessing you didn’t make the same mistake I did (for a minute there I thought you and I were going to have the same issue!).
BTW I can’t recall - are you guys in-state WI? I’m wondering if that affects the Admitster #'s.
Yes, WI resident. I went into parchment and changed residence from WI to MN to see if it would change anything. It doesn’t. Was going to do the same thing for Admitster, but can’t get into that site right now for some reason. Again, I think Parchment’s percentages are based entirely on data that they collect from users. Also, on Parchment, while the user is required to enter EC information, they don’t really have a way of quantifying it. When Admitster asks for EC information, it want’s you to put in a number from 0-5 based on certain criteria. My son does a lot of EC stuff (President of FBLA (finished 5th in State competition), 3 years on Varsity Baseball, Golf, Model U.N, works 15-20 hrs per week in an accounting department). So, not sure if that is making a difference between the 2 sites.
I don’t think either site has any “inside” information on the admission process at schools. If they did they would have both had Iowa State as 100% for my son since that admission policy is entirely formula based and they make that formula public right on their web site.
Regardless of what each site says, our expectation is that our son has about a 50/50 chance at each school and he will probably be in one of the last group of applicants at each school to get a decision because of that (regardless of when he submitted his app).
Thanks! Hope so. Again, grades/class rank are not outstanding (especially compared to what others have posted here), but he has raised his GPA 30 points since the end of his Sophomore year and will probably raise it another 5-10 points this semester. Hopefully they will take that upward trend into account.
Just checked and I got into the College of Liberal Arts OOS for Political Science.

@dasgrendel Congratulations! I got in last week and my gpa wasn’t so good either, and my test scores are great! Also I’m a ca resident and got in for history! Will you enroll?
@dasgrendel@dannydevit0 congrats to both of you on your acceptances! how long after you applied did you get accepted? I applied Nov. 7th and my application was complete around a week later… so it hasn’t been very long at all, but I’m pretty impatient and just curious.
@dannydevit0 I honestly don’t know. UMN will probably be a safety for me until I get my other results back! Congrats to you too man I was following your chance me thread closely. @hannahyalea 10 days. Didn’t think I was going to get results back so quickly!

@neuprospect98 - I know someone who’s national merit that got his scholarship notification in the mail already… Not sure what specific scholarships he got but he did receive them.
I just recently got mine - not national merit, though. It was gold national to waive the out of state tuition difference.
