My son and I are attending the January Admitted Students Day. Can anyone tell us about that? Are there places, restaurants, etc that are a must do? I want him to get a real feel for the school. (and want him to like it!)
Thanks for any input!
I had a blast attending last January. It was extremely friendly and informative. We stayed at the Marriott downtown, which was very comfortable (BTW, book hotel ASAP). I thoroughly enjoyed the SC BBQ (mustard-based sauce) and had great food at Maurice’s. Restaurants in the area are busy during these events, so you may want to book reservations now(!) This was the best organized and most welcoming admitted students day we attended of any university. They’ll really take care of you. We visited nearby areas like downtown and Five Points. These are easy to walk to from campus. One thing we didn’t discover until our last trip was the Soda-City Market they have on Main Street on Saturday mornings. Of course, I’m not sure how appealing this is for your son.

Thank you! We had a great weekend and really enjoyed everything around campus!
One thing I noticed was that the Fraternity Houses said there is no alcohol allowed?? Does anyone know if this is really true?
@sfaulk You are correct. Alcohol is not allowed in any of the greek houses
@lopeztlo7 Thanks for the info. Do you have one at USC? My son is hoping to go there and major in sports management. Waiting on scholarship package to see if it is doable. He is interested in a fraternity also and I was very impressed with the houses when we visited.
@sfaulk my daughter applied to the sports management major as well but has not heard. My son is at Wake Forest and he has several high school friends both boys and girls that are at USC. The tour guide told us that the greek houses were dry and my son has visited his friends and confirms that. Good luck to your son.
Thanks @lopeztlo7 Good luck to your daughter too!
