My ds just got a phone call last night that he was admitted with the Jesuit Scholarship (because he attended a Jesuit High School)! We haven't been able to visit yet and won't be able to until his winter sport is over. How generous is the university with other merit awards?

Also wondering how long before we receive his admission packet?

Guess I’m not too knowledgeable about it all, but I just got accepted this week, and I got the VP scholarship and I didn’t do anything extra. I don’t know what the criteria is for that though. Havn’t gotten my admission packet yet either, but I live overseas so that’s understandable

My son got an e-mail last week regarding his admission and received his admission packet together with letter about his VP scholarship today. I found this info about Vice Presidential scholarship on the SLU website:

“Several four-year merit-based scholarships, ranging from $3,000 to $15,000 per year, are available to incoming freshmen. The Billiken, Ignatian, University, Deans’ and Provost Scholarships do not require a separate scholarship application; the Application for Freshman Admission automatically qualifies applicants for consideration. Renewable over a maximum of eight semesters with a varying GPA requirements, see below:”

Merit Award GPA:
Billiken 2.0
Billiken Catholic 2.0
Ignatian 2.5
University 3.0
Deans 3.1
Vice President (Provost) 3.2

When my son was admitted 2 years ago we received notice of the merit award right away, In April (when the complete financial package letter is received if you have filed your FAFSA timely) he received some grant money. The net after grant and merit approximated our FAFSA EFC. (which is a good thing if your EFC is lower than the net cost after merit)

I got a phone call December 2nd from my counselor, and the packet came the 14th of December. I got a Dean’s Scholarship worth $12,000 per year. I’m excited to have SLU as my first college that I got into - but, I’m also waiting on the Med. Scholars program to decide if I will truly be considering SLU as an option.

They do it on a rolling basis right? I applied pretty dang early - somewhere in mid-October, so it depends on when you applied. Hope this helps…

I applied mid-November and got a phone call about my acceptance and scholarship after about two weeks. Question: are all of you from the midwest area? As of right now SLU is my number one choice, but I’ve lived in Arizona my whole life and am a little worried about going there and being the only non-midwestern person.

I am from North California - I’m sure you will be fine…just visit and make sure you think you will love being at SLU for 4 years. :D

Also, I got a letter today in the mail that I am getting a 2K boost in my Dean’s Scholarship to $14,000 a year for four years. Hurray! Anyway, good luck to everyone else. :)

I received a phone call from my admission counselor 2 weeks after I submitted my application in October. The admission packet came about 2 weeks later. I just received my Letter of Acceptance into the 6-year Doctor of Physical Therapy program 2 days ago. Did anyone else apply? I would love to know what other colleges you are comparing. I have been accepted to Duqesne’s 6-year DPT. Still waiting to hear from Marquette, Boston U, and Northeastern. Right now SLU is high on my list and I’m probably going to go to the April 9th Accepted Student day to make sure. Anyone else?

ACCEPTED (Parks School of Engineering)
I applied in December. Got my Acceptance letter through email yesterday. I’m international.
Got a Deans’ Scholarship worth $14000 per year.

Congrats, Leslie. Questions: How long did it take them once you submitted the application? Did you use the SLU app or the CommonApp? Also, did they say anything about scholarships, or will they be notifiying you of that later?

They called me a week after I submitted my CommonApp (though I sent out recs and transcripts earlier).
The guy I talked with said I would get a confirmation letter later this week or next, which I hope would have information about scholarships. But that’s all I know now is that I was accepted. I’ll post again when I get the packet.
I was really surprised they got back with me so quickly, I think it’s because I was just early in sending things and they might not have many people to sort through at the moment.

I just got the packet in the mail, I received the Dean’s Scholarship! They also have a few other scholarships listed online that require an application.
