Does anyone know if there are any planned days for admitted students to visit, attend classes, stay in dorms, etc.? I know Rice has Owl Days and WUSTL has several specific ones (like Engineering Days, etc.) If NU does this, do you know when it will be? Thanks.

I was curious about this also.

Yeah. Anyone care to shed some light?

I think it's one of the weekends in April, but I know it isn't next weekend.

I know we're doing something, but I don't know how the overnight stuff is working out. I'll ask my friend who works in SAC about it when I go back to campus on Sunday, but hopefully someone can let you all know before then. :)

I live ten minutes away, so it's not a big deal. Let me know if you find anything.

They have Wildcat Welcome Days in late April. It's usually three different sessions and they are two days long. You get to stay overnight in a dorm, get tours, eat in the dining halls, etc. (Don't know if they're having WWD this year too, but probably will?)

But if you know someone at NU, you should just skip the tours and whatnot and have them show you around.

The official "Wildcat Days" for admitted students are April 13, April 20, and April 27. They are listed in the acceptance packet you should receive in the mail (I got mine today) but it also lists www.ugadm.northwestern.edu/admit/wildcatdays as where you can go to get more info

Did the acceptance packet say if there were overnight stays involved? If so, would that be for Sunday night or Monday night?

There is no mention of overnights in the packet, however after searching online I found info from last year's wildcat days (this year's website is not working for some reason) and they are described as overnights there. Here is the other link Wildcat Days, Office of Undergraduate Admission - Northwestern University . maybe you'll find this one more helpful

The thing is, when we were signing up to take students around, there was no mention of an overnight for us either.

yeah, i'd love to know too, because i definitely need to visit again before may 1st!!

Same here! Anyone else get their packet in the mail yet?

If we happen to be visiting the Chicago area around sometime other than the Wildcat days, say...Saturday, the 18th...I see general tours are available. I went on one of those when I was considering NU this summer. Should I take another tour or just wander around myself to get a better (and less marketed) feel for the place? I think I probably just answered my own question. Any advice?

@RhymesWithGreen:
Are you planning to be in the Chicago area anyway or is the visit specifically for NU? If you can't make it for one of the Wildcat Days, I would suggest contacting the admissions office to let them know when you will be coming. Even though it's not guaranteed, they may be able to set you up with someone because, face it, they aren't going to lose an admittee just because your schedule didn't work with Wildcat Days. Obviously you can get a tour like the one you already went on, but it won't be anything you haven't seen already. If you know any current students at NU, you should ask them if they could give you a tour of different parts of campus and possibly show you more related to your interests. If you don't know anyone and the AO can't do anything, I can help you out -- just let me know.

How does the acceptance package look like?
Just curious.

I'll probably have to wait till monday to get mine.

I'll be in the Chicago area anyway. I'm hoping to do a UChicago overnight Thursday/Friday, and while I'm upset I can't give the schools equal time, that's just how it works. Thanks for your advice. I don't know any current students at NU. I do know a professor (one of Mom's best friends from high school), but he wandered around with us this summer and, while that was nice because he let us know when things were being exaggerated, I don't think I'd repeat it.
I'll definitely call the admissions office to work stuff out. Thanks for your advice and nice offer to help...will definitely contact you if needed.

does anyone know if the wildcat days are really worth it? my spring break is next week and id prefer to go then.

I haven't seen overnight visits mentioned anywhere? Does anyone know whether it would be possible to do an overnight? My parents were not planning to come, but I do not think I would be able to check into a hotel by myself.

They emailed me about wildcat day in april 26-28, and that includes two day overnights.
